In northern Nigeria, precisely in Kaduna State, citizens have declared emergency on tomato.
This is due to the recent rise in price of tomato as well as its scarcity in the Nigerian markets. Following the activities of a moth identified as Tomato Leaf Miner on tomato farms, notable tomato forms have ceased production of tomato paste.
A moth called the Tomato Leaf Miner, or Tuta Absoluta, has ravaged 80% of tomato farms , said Commissioner of Agriculture Daniel Manzo Maigar.
Daniel Manzo calculated a loss of at least 1bn naira ($5.1m; £3.5m).
The price of a basket of tomatoes, a staple in Nigerian cooking, has increased from $1.20 less than three months ago to more than $40 today.

According to United Nation’s statistics, most of the productions of tomato are done in the northern parts of Nigeria.
And so with the situation, an average Nigerian cannot afford to purchase tomato for consumption.
A tomato paste manufacturing business in northern Kano state owned by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, suspended production earlier in the month due to the lack of tomatoes.
The scarcity of tomato is another uphill Nigerians are currently to facing really hard to overcome in the past couple of weeks.

Never heard of Tomato Emergency before- only under APC rule. With the way things are going, hope we are not heading for famine. Old man Audu Ogbeh resign if you can't do the job

Did you read the report or you're just programmed to robotically wail or you have problems with comprehension?

Did you see anything like the below in the report?

A moth called the Tomato Leaf Miner, or Tuta Absoluta, has ravaged 80% of tomato farms ,

Are you accusing the FG of afflicting the tomato plants with the disease? Should we accuse GEJ of being the cause of Bird flu that ravaged our poultry during his tenure or Ebola fever that killed our country men also during his tenure?
