Given the shortfall in oil revenue, the wanton corruption in PDP, Nigeria's socioeconomic situation would definitely being worse than today. I believe the following would have happened;

We are lucky GEJ lost the elections. If not :

1. Boko haram overruns Nigeria
2. Heavy fuel scarcity as Govt unable to pay subsidy and suppliers refuse to offload fuel
3? Dollar = 1000naira as Govt prints more money.
4. Niger delta militants on rampage as jona unable to pay amnesty money
5. Mass dismissal of civil servants as Govt unable to pay salaries.
6. Prices of common items would have gone up by 300%

Please refute or add your points. Thanks

I know the Wailers would not comment on this because it didn't fit into their biased criticism of the current government.
Only those in tune with the current global economic realities would understand this.

Buhari is not just not competent . Nigeria needs a very intelligent person with high intelectual capacity . Buhari never improved himself since he left power 1985.

Nonsense, GEJ wasn't in power, Yaradua was.

Yaradua used up Obasanjo's crude oil savings to ameliorate our situation, that's why nigeria wasn't affected as badly.

GEJ, unlike Obasanjo, failed to save during the rainy days that's why we are feeling the hardship this harshly.

How many projects did OBJ complete? Who was the Minister of Finance during OBJ. Who owns one of the biggest farms in Africa with Feed the Nation Loan?

Amechi & APC helped to destroy Nigeria's future:

In January 2013, Nigeria has over $10 billion in it. Then, governor Rotimi Amechi led other Nigerian governors, under the umbrella of governors forum & ask the then President Goodluck Jonathan to share the money to the states. Jonathan & his minister of finance, world renowned economist, Dr. Ngozi Okojo Iweala insisted that the money should be SAVED FOR RAINNY DAYS.

But, Rotimi Amechi led other governors to take FG to court. Jonathan's led FG then offered to settle the governor's out of the court by sharing $1 billion & saving up the rest for Nigeria & Nigerians. The governor's rejected the offer, they want it all. So, since the court mandated that the ECA is shared, the court gave judgement in their favour & the $10 billion was shared.

FG lost, Nigeria lost, our children lost; essentially everybody lost. It's obvious that your ilk & some deluded fellows insulting & cursing GEJ but, turn around to laud APC & Amechi as saints forgetting that they(Amechi & other governors which some are now ministers) are the architect of Nigeria's present predicament. So, sir please do us a favour & SHUT UP

This is the problem GEJ had. Governance is not about actively building projects, it is about creating a stable environment where projects will not only be completed but also used and maintained. Like the case of the Hare vs the tortoise, being the faster runner doesn't always determine success in the race.

The standard of living in nigeria is strongly correlated to the value of the Naira. Take electricity for example, Successive governments have struggled to increase electricity supply and have sort private sector investments.

Private investors complain that tariffs are set too low for end consumers and government has responded by increasing the tariffs.

Most new power plants are powered using gas. This gas is priced in USD. As the naira collapses, gas becomes more expensive thus forcing the government to further increase tariffs.

GEJ built power plants without saving adequate amounts of dollars to protect the naira. We now have power plants that would produce electricity which the average nigerian will struggle to afford.

GEJ put the horse before the cart. You save first before you invest especially in a mono-economy like nigeria's.

PS.
Being personally corrupt while preventing most of your subordinates from looting the country dry is ten times better than being saintly and letting all your subordinates loot the country.

How come buhari has managed to save over 2 billion in our excess crude account even with oil selling below 50 dollars?

You are only admitting that GEJ was a weak leader.

Mere guesses, GEJ was prepared as he has seen his shortcomings in his first term and since he wasn't coming for a third term he wanted to make a name and damn all god fathers troubling him. As for boko haram he was already gaining advantage before he left. Op one thing you must know is this PMB is not a leadership material for a 21st century country, Nigerians were just gullible to have fell for the corruption rants of the apc, I bet you Atiku would have been better. Let me ask you one question since buhari left office is 1985, what has he been very good at? Atiku is an accomplished businessman.

How many world leaders (presidents) are business people?

This foolishness is troubling.

Business people, by nature, have to be selfish to a degree to be successful. Good World leaders on the other hand, need to be selfless and self sacrificing to make the best decisions for the majority of their people.

So the percentage that went to the FG was also shared among the yam eaters right To show the person at the head is clueless, the governors under OBJ regime were even crazier than the amaechi and co but since they knew oga Jona is clueless they manipulated the drunkard and he fell on his arse. Even the same okonjo you quoting here came out to tell the whole world GEJ lack the willingness to save

The economic prowess of GEJ's can never be compared to that of PMB. PMB is a failure let's accept it.

The mistake APC made during the last campaign to win people's heart is given ridiculous promises which cannot be achieved within a short period. There is no magic to the current inflation of the economy to make N1 to 1dollars or paying N5,000 to unemployed/poor people.

That aside if GEJ had won last year, honestly things would have got out of hands because he is not a leader that possess strong will. He is too soft/weak to rule. He is a good man, agreed but he lacks leadership and political skill to run the office of a state let alone a country.
