When Obafemi Martins hit the global football stage in 2002, not a few people were ready to put their money on his potentials. International football analysts were already tipping him as the next best thing to come out of Africa, some tagged him the new George Weah. Unfortunately, years later, he did not live up to expectation.

With what appears to be a resurgence in Germany, some people(ironically, non-Nigerians) believe he was sacrificed for Owen at Newcastle and his potentials not fully utilized.

Now he has two beautiful goals in as many matches, coming on as a sub in both matches.

The question is: Is this a flash in the pan or is Martins back?

Time shall tell.

The same way a crappy Santa Cruz from the Bundesliga who averaged 5 goals per season became a 20 goal striker.

The EPL must be really crappy for Santa Cruz to be a major goal scorer
