Somebody said in a thread that oil money was never used to develop Lagos. So I ask - What was used in building the third mainland bridge?

Nope .
Money Made from making use of our ports .
Capital gains /stamp duty from the Nigerian Lagos stock exchange
Yoruba VAT and Corporate taxes.
In 20 years time , when we finish building the 4th mainland bridge, you can come ,have a look at it , and tell your children that it was built with oil money.

This ridiculous obsession with who produce what is silly. All the regions depend on each other. Imports came from lagos and went to d south, so did food crops from north also go to the east. We all depend on each other. So this topic makes no sense

OP, please tell your scavengers to blow it, SW will be fine, for every kobo spent in Lagos, the parasitic population from everywhere else have taken 1 naira of the essence of it with the pollution and out of control population thing..

If they can blow 3MB, then we will know far!!

BTW, Lagos does not need oil money, Abuja sure but not SW...

OP you are a learner.

3MB was built from Corporate Tax, revenue generated from the international airport, ports and border posts on our soil.

Try harder.

SW remains the the Financial capital of West Africa and probably even Africa.

SW produces the highest cement in Africa.

SW is hosting the highest number of multinationals in West Africa.

SW has the highest number of Universities in Africa.

SW produces oil,

SW has bitumen deposit.

SW is the home of entertainment in Africa.

SW produces both food and cash crop, with good land for animal husbandry.

SW is the home of fish farming.

The only UNESCO World Heritage Centre is in SW.

SW is simply the capital of West Africa.

You can hold the other parts of Nigeria into ransom, definitely NOT SW. Let Regionalism start and you will see the difference between light and day.

Lagosians had telephone presence in 1886, Itu
and Calabar got connected to Telephone in 1923,
By 1856 Cable and Wireless Company of the UK
had commissioned a submarine cable link
between Lagos and London and In 1851 a post
office was established in Lagos; all these before
of the emergence of Nigeria as an amalgamated
country.
Communication technology is a major signifier of
civilizations and if Lagosians were already making
telephone calls more than 70 years before your
daddies, where then did you get the warped idea
that oil developed Lagos?
Awolowo gave his people the system of free education, free
healthcare and he introduced Television to the
Yoruba; making Yorubaland the first region to
have a TV station in Africa all done with revenues
from Cocoa.
don't die because of lagos ,hold your useless leaders responsible.

Stories!

So why do our people cry and wail whenever division of this country is mentioned?
Why has our people not asked to leave this fruitless union and form our own nation if we are not parasites to SS and SE?
Why do we vigorously cling to oil production status even when the oil found in Ondo is less than 200 barrels a year?
Why do we sow trouble between SS and SE to make sure they never unite to rip this union apart?

But why?

Just why?

Very simple answer. Your quest is an exercise in futility because of the constitution, which is the Grand Norm of this country.

If you want secession or whatever you want, you need to go through the tortuous task of constitution amendment or better still go to war.

As it is today, the constitution does not recognize your aspiration. Whoever dies over secession, dies for nothing.

Unfortunately ''Our Dilector'' lacks the mental capacity to spear head such an intellectual adventure. Hence he chose the path of garrulous self destruction by inciting genocide and preaching hate.

Please stop insulting my tribe!

How can you imply that my tribe is too scared to fight a simple civil war and get our freedom the same way others had fought? You mean we are sissies and cowards in yoruba land?

This is very insulting to a great tribe like we yorubas.

We even owe Anambra state. If Anambra government decides to collect their money by force, we will need to sell some people as slaves to pay them.

You are forgetting the brown roofs also built with cocoa money, before oil was discovered in the SS and all our farmers sold their cocoa farms to ibos and travelled to London.

Why are you ashamed of your tribe? Is it now a curse to be associated with your Ibo tribe. Even your Ibo brothers avoid you cos you bringing shame to them by hiding behind yoruba to spew trash. Be bold and stop behaving like Ojukwu.

you should knock on azikwes grave and ask the greedy man while he refused secession clause in the first constitution,or how he became the beautiful bride to the northerners you people now detest.
better still go to the pearly gates of heaven and ask for aguiyi ironsi that crushed the Niger Delta republic started by adaka boro.

On the contrary, we do not all depend on each other. It is what the biologist will call parasitism - where the parasite only depends on its host, in which case the host doesn't need the parasite.

The Niger Delta has never depended on any other region in this nation. You speak of the north, brother, do they give us food for free?,don't we buy their food at an alarmingly high price as compared to what is achievable in the north? Haven't they stolen and still steal our oil on a daily basis? heck! if they cut supplies, we buy from Cameroon, its closer and cheaper!

The west you speak of, How exactly have my people benefited from them? in what capacity sir?

What about the East, what has their contributions been so far?,

Lagos' contribution to the national purse via tax alone, is 'farrrr' greater than the contribution of all 19 northern states put together, yet, no one is chest beating. Not to mention other plentiful revenue sources

What is the GDP contribution of oil to Nigeria's economy?

What is the contribution of oil to the national purse?

Are you aware there are oil producing states in boththe SW and SE?

Which state are you from?

P.S.You mentioned Cameroon, LOL, be thankful to Nigeria, by now the Cameroonians would have re-colonized you lot.
