On what premise did Muhammadu Buhari became the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria? Was it on the premise of his acumen for management of an economy, or his perceived intelligence or guile, or perhaps his experience in handling political realities within a state? For me neither of those premises was the reason he won the election, neither is the promises made by the APC in their entirety the reason the election was won, Promises like the five thousand naira stipend for unemployed youths, 3 million jobs to be created every year, etc. But in hindsight that Is in actual fact politics and democracy, making the unrealistic look realistic and making the majority believe in your capability to achieve such reality while the other is made to look incapable.

For me, the election was won based on two premise, the first being the direct propaganda against the person of Goodluck Jonathan (which isn’t totally misplaced) and the other based on the person of Muhammad Buhari, who appear to be the direct opposite to what Jonathan was made to appear. On the first part, the propaganda against the person of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as a failure, a corrupt and insensitive person who had no plans for the country was a bit unfair. The administration had one of the best cabinet Nigeria has witnessed in her 56 year history, but most without the necessary passion or will to impact positively in the country and the administration had its fair share of success in some areas but on the whole the failure far outweigh the success.
