The Obosi development Union has finally announced the ousted the its suspended President General; Mr Dan Igbokwubili and replaced him with Mr Ike Madubosah

The Obosi Development Union had earlier announced the immediate suspension of Mr Dan Igbokwubili in April on grounds of gross misconduct and General inefficiency

Obosi is a relatively volatile town in Idemili North Local government Area of Anambra State

In an emergency general meeting of Obosi Development Union held on 27 th May 2016, the suspended president general of Obosi Development Union sir Igbokwubili Obii was finally shown a way out from office following an unanimous adoption of vote of no confidence deposited by 10 members drawn from the five villages in Obosi and a report of investigative panel recommending his removal after careful examination of allegations of gross misconduct, embezzlement and general inefficiency leveled against him by 16 out of 18 member of his central executives

In a statement jointly signed by the Acting President General Comrade Emeka Chude and the Publicity Secretary Engr. Obi Eneanya, the 10 aggrieved members were of the view that the Ex-President General Sir, Dan Igbokwubili has (1) lost the confidence of the over whelming majority members / indigenes of the Union (2) Turned the running of the affairs of the Union into one man show thereby operating the affairs of the Union as a Sole Administrator in breach of the Union’s constitution. (3) Appropriated to his own personal use revenues collected on behalf the community (4) created an outstanding anarchy in Obosi thereby dragging developments in Obosi to the mud. Hence he no longer command the respect and authority needed to effectively carry on the duties of the president general of the Obosi Development Union.

According to Article 16.4 of the Union Constitution, “If there is a vote of no confidence on the Central Executive Committee or any member or members thereof by a two third – majority of members president at the Annual General Meeting or Emergency General Meeting, the Central Executive Committee shall IPSO facto be dissolved or in the case of a member or members such member or members shall be removed from office. The meeting shall then proceed to conduct election to fill the office or offices so vacated as provided in this constitution fresh election was conducted on 29 th May, 2016 for both the President General and Secretary General (earlier resigned on the grounds of ill-health). Messers Ike Madubosah and Okay Agwuegbo emerged successful winners for President General and Secretary General respectively out of six people that contested for the election (Four Persons for President General, two for Secretary General).

Already the Union has assumed appropriate steps, including legal action, to recover the money embezzled by Sir Dan Igbokwubili. Speaking during the customary code of conduct taking by Newly elected Officers at Eze Obosi’s palace, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Chidubem Iweka thanked the Leadership of Obosi Development Union and the entire people of Obosi for taking the bull by the horn to ensure that peace returns to Obosi. The event also witnessed a voluntary donations for the renovation of Obosi Town Hall triggered by Chief Okey Molokwu MM – Nwannedinamba, president ODU Jos branch who pronounced a reasonable sum of money to kick start the project, Chudi ibeanu (Akataka) president ODU Lagos branch and president of all branch president also donated both the internal and external doors for the Town hall
