the Nigerian constitution starts with the statement "we the people of the federal republic of Nigeria". it did not exclude any region. the sharia expansion bill sponsored by Hon. salame and the reasons stated for the expansion is an insult on the already existing courts in nigeria. are they saying that the already existing court are incapable of trying criminal case? are they saying that the already existing courts are incapable of promoting peace between the Muslims and non-Muslims? I am from the niger delta I believe in nigeria because I understand the politics of global power play, but this display of religious Fascism in nigeria must stop, else the National Assembly will be sending a wrong signal to those of us who still believe in the unity of Nigeria. I stay in the northern part of Nigeria and I know what its like to be a second class citizen and I can authoritativly tell you that the real reason for the sharia expansion bill is being swept under the rog. we can not be called "dhimmis" in our own country, that is if truely its ours. I write to call for peace, I write to the National Assembly to remember that National intrest proceed every other intrest. I hanve written for this day to be remembered because the spread of religious intrest does not end, the more you give in to it, the more it will continue to demand.
thank you
