fratermathy: In as much as i appreciate the initiatives, the Government needs to step up the pay say roughly 30k, Besides, you did not mention whether the 23k does not include other logistics such as accommodation, feeding, transport e.t.c. the prices of all this things has gone up recently. My suggestions would have been to train 500,000 persons on SMEs in terms of manufacturing and producing certain goods with an unbiased selection process. This SME initiative made China what is today. The Govt is always looking for means to cut cost. I don't know what they are using all our money to do. |
Re: The N-power Teacher Corps Programme: Must Know Fact by chinchum(m): 3:22pm On Jun 09, 2016 |
Eddygourdo:The programme is not primarily tailored for skill acquisition, it is meant to meet the shortage of school teachers in the nations schools, and volunteers are called to offer their services. Govt will appreciate the efforts of the volunteers. This programme is not primarily meant for the volunteers, it is meant for the school kids. |

chinchum: The way NYSC corpers were used as volunteers in the North during the election and were all lynched abi. You can as well resign your employment and take up the job as a voluteer. mstcheewww!!! Father Christmas |

Almonda: The pay is quite low though but I believe that it will be reviewed with time or other incentives attached. |

chinchum:and thus what happens to the unemployed millions of graduates holding degrees in education, NCE and the likes. Why can't they be employed to fill such vacancies . People who are trained in teaching people. What type of teaching can someone with a degree in economics have in a nursery or kindergarten class. Are we not taking food from the mouth of others ? When the program is over. What happens to the volunteers . They have simply wasted two years of their lives garnering experience that doesn't better them affter the program. Is that a proactive plan for the nigerian youth ? I really disagree |

Re: The N-power Teacher Corps Programme: Must Know Fact by fratermathy(m): 3:41pm On Jun 09, 2016 |
Eddygourdo: You call it a waste yet you are not forced to apply or are you? Meanwhile who said graduates will teach in nursery schools? There are other programmes with NCE holders as well! Being drafted to teach as a graduate isn't the only one. Meanwhile no one has complained that their time is being wasted. You can choose to apply and if you get a job along the line, you quit. The aim of the initiative isn't to employ people but to give succour to the unemployed while they gain experience and skills in preparation for better jobs and entrepreneurship. |
Re: The N-power Teacher Corps Programme: Must Know Fact by fratermathy(m): 3:41pm On Jun 09, 2016 |
Almonda: It is not a job! No one is forcing anyone to apply. If you are not interested, good riddance! |
Re: The N-power Teacher Corps Programme: Must Know Fact by fratermathy(m): 3:46pm On Jun 09, 2016 |
darlinton28: Who know who for 23k? Pulessseee! If you have that connection, na 23k work u go settle for? Meanwhile you have to prove that you are unemployed and your cv will show that adequately, among other factors. They'd interview you and you'd write tests to prove many things. |

Re: The N-power Teacher Corps Programme: Must Know Fact by chinchum(m): 3:49pm On Jun 09, 2016 |
Eddygourdo:I have just read about the program, if you take pain to read like i have, instead of sulking you wont be asking the first question. the post talked about B.sc/B.a edu, As for N.C.E i didnt see them listed in there, but it is basic common sense that if 500,000 is removed from the unemployed millions to earn a living, irrespective of how much of a token it might appear, it is something. There are graduates with degree in economics education, my male cousin is one, he can be posted to teach related subjects that best fit. The fact that someone gets a volunteer job that has a lifespan of two years does not mean such fellow press pause or stop on his/her life pursuit na. Some will most likely drop out before the end of the 2 year scheme because they got access to greener pastures, and the vacant space will be filled up with others. Most of the teachers in private schools in Nigeria barely earn 23,000. It is a shame, but it is the fact. 1 Like |

marwanafrica: You see, i think this is the problem...people who come here to criticize initiatives are not in anyway the targeted. At least you can afford to fly, many like you cant even pay 50 naira for okada and you say 23k is nothing? Many of us heared far less during NYSC and life wasnt bad. Given the current realities, i think its a good program. Its a temporary engagement and a skill acquisition program, many will fly high if they put in their best. |

fratermathy: So are u supporting the Government for their backwardness & poor leadership? Is this all they can do wit tax payers money & Niger Delta crude oil money?? Go & check all OPEC countries & compare the standard of living u'll come back & requests for a gun to sh**t ur leaders. They're victimizing u & all u can do is applaud them?. How myopic! Why would the law makers earn highest in the world?? ur president earn more than Obama are u aware?? ..& all he does is travel round the world wit d money from crude. Let any1 that want to voice their mind do so let whole world know the height of insanity |
Re: The N-power Teacher Corps Programme: Must Know Fact by chinchum(m): 4:00pm On Jun 09, 2016 |
Ibudus:I think it is even better than the NYSC environment, in the sense that those graduates can take the 'token" and have the opportunity of most likely still live under their parents/guardians, meaning they might not fend for food or accomodation expenses, they now have at least money to attend job interviews without being a total pest to parents , and who knows save the money and merge with funds from other sources to start up an SME. |
Re: The N-power Teacher Corps Programme: Must Know Fact by Ibudus: 4:05pm On Jun 09, 2016 |
Eddygourdo: You educated graduate why can't you slow down and think with your brains? The teaching job is just an aspect of the program, there are others like you mentioned which will build skills of unemployed. There is a gap in our teaching today, and the govt equally want to feel that gap by ensuring capable graduates are teaching students. There are many other benefits to this and i think you don't have the right to throw insults, you are not in anyway better educated or enlightened than anyone here, you reserve a right to your opinion and so everyone. If you were that informed, you will know that courtesy is a virtue. |
Re: The N-power Teacher Corps Programme: Must Know Fact by chinchum(m): 4:18pm On Jun 09, 2016 |
TBankxx:The part highlighted makes me laugh. Your argument is like that of a wife telling her husband who works in CBN to compare his standard of living with his other members of staff. That OPEC binds us together does not mean we are mates o bro? Shoe get size. Discounting other main sources of income, Shey na Saudi Arabia wey dey produce 9.2 million barrels per day, you dey compare with Nigeria of 2 million barrels. One will use its 9.2 million barrels to cater for 25 million, the other has close to 200 million . Them be mate so. |

Eddygourdo: *a round of applaus to the wise 1* Did they ever say that the programme is only meant 4 teachers? Or u wanna aside this initiative, there are no skill acquisition and entrepreneurship programmes/initiatives even by private bodies? Well, we all think differently sha. Pple like u are the ones that wait for the govt to push u, well, i guess the N-thing wz actualy 2push, guess the force isnt strong enough. *sipsTEA* |
