For the Niger Delta Avengers to succeed, they need to follow the below plan. How ever, it seems they have not thought about this to the fullest.

If you blow up all the pipelines, then the rest of Nigeria will have no more oil. And all our jeeps will stop moving. Also no Electricity - Standard.

However, the Niger Delta guy will then be cut out of Nigeria. They're gonna need a new Passport, a new currency and their own president, ministers and regions.
They're going to have to sell the crude oil to international markets. So they need their own oil carrying ships (I forget the technical name).
They'd have to go resister with United Nations as a new nation. Also registration with OPEC as an oil producing country.
They need to register with IOC and FIFA to play some sports in the Olympics and Kick some football as well.

All this needs to be done for international recognition.
However, they need money to do a lot of these things. And being that they have a grouse with Nigeria, they can't go spending Naira anymore. They need their own $NigerDelta.
Fine, a typical arts and crafts printer guy can print the paper. But the paper won't have any value. You got to take it along to OPEC and show them.

Then tell OPEC that $NigerDelta 1.00 = $1.00. Once said, America will first slap them before the other nations will sit on their heads. The problem with ascribing value to currency is that you got to single handedly produce something of international value and have enough light food and water in you country so you can make some yanga about your exported product. Only then can your currency have international value.

Hence the American Dollar, $, Is the number one currency.
But by then. the Niger Delta will basically be a fallout zone - You know how places look after a nuclear bomb has scatters everything. Niger Delta currently kind of resembles that and with thee blast going on and on, it is resembling it more and more.

hmm, this is not a good image to give your proposed currency any value. So they might eventually seceded but end up with a valueless currency and no means to export the oil or refine the oil. or even extract the oil.

Maybe the rest of Nigeria will then go begging them for small oil (Abeg na!?) and exchange it with mirrors and umbrella's (As it was in the beginning...)

Well, any which way we all stand to lose by fighting. Nigeria will lose. Nigerdelta will lose.

Let our Federal government do the Federalism thing and Make roads and industries for the indigenes of this region other wise, all your jeeps will stop O!

Op, I concur with your post...but it is just that the two regions: SS and SE are just twin sisters. In 1967 the SE launched the war and the Niger Deltans joined them in the drama. Now the second civil war, if care is not taken, will be launched by the Niger Deltans with full support of the SE...

A critical study of the demands and conditions the Niger Delta Militants gave the FG; portrays the mutual interest of the two regions...what concerns the sufferings and neglect of Niger Delta communities with the release of Nnamdi Kanu? Does it not mean that Mr Kanu is the acclaimed wounded messiah of the people of the two regions?..the FG should be wise and do the needful as Op rightly pointed out.

No nation will support the FG in any war in the Niger Delta for the Nigerian government are the unjust agressors in this drama given the accumulated grievances of the people of Niger Delta which is the backdrop against which they are sabbotaging the Nigerian economy.

We all will loose should we try any military action...just as Gowon's police action led to full time civil war in 1967...Nigeria will loose big time for the people of the Niger Delta are ready to be free or die trying.
