1. Someone outside your tribe/country/continent

Your parents may have warned you not to bring a *insert tribe here* man/woman home, but forget them for a moment. Dating someone outside your tribe is a learning and teaching experience. You teach them how your language and culture, and they teach you theirs and you both explore and enjoy different cultures. You may even find that both of you see eye to eye on so many different things. If you fall in love with them, then there is the minor (or major, depending on how dramatic your family is) issue of which culture the children will focus on. The beauty of two cultures is that your children will be both. Sure they will have the man’s last name but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be bi-lingual, beautiful mixed-tribe (or mixed-race) children.

2. Someone who isn’t fine to others (but fine to you)

This includes a wide range of people. For example: someone who shares a similar hobby with you, someone who is nice, someone who you are crushing on for some strange reason, etc. You may be excited and in love and want to show them off but people’s reactions will let you know it’s only you who sees beauty in them. And that’s okay. Someone who your friends don’t fine appealing means less competition anyway. And besides, you won’t want their opinion to make you miss a chance with a great guy or girl. If the person makes you feel special and you find them beautiful in all they do, stay with them and let no one steer you off course.

3. Someone who treats you like royalty (when you aren’t)

Also known as, Mr/Mrs Nice guy. It may be reflex to put this nice person into the friend zone but take a leap of faith for once. Sure, they may not be what you’re looking for physically or something but look beyond their looks. These people who love you genuinely and worship you should be top choice for you. They will always try and please you and meet you half way and pamper you all through. All they ask for is your love and affection in return. Plus, you can always grow to love them so don’t close your mind to it. Anyone who treats you like you’re the best person on earth is what you deserve so enjoy them! Don’t take them for granted however, if you find you can never love them, let them go. Don’t be selfish.

4. Someone who forgives easily

Nothing can ruin a relationship like a grudge or unresolved issues. If you come across someone you like who is able to let things go when you two fall out, date that person. It’s not an easy or common trait to be able to forgive and forget completely. Most people will sweep things under the rug, keep a quiet grudge and one day when you least expect it, all hell shall be let loose when they explode. This person who forgives easily should not be taken for granted however; don’t see it as an excuse to mess up whenever you feel like. In the odd chance that you do mess up, it would be a blessing having someone who is able to forgive, forget and love you just the same or even more.

5. Someone who doesn’t believe in cheating

Need I say more? Someone who takes monogamy very seriously and does all they can to stay faithful is a keeper! They know their temptations and avoid their triggers and make sure they stay faithful to only you. They also don’t believe there is any reason to cheat so when you both have problems; they will work things out instead of finding comfort in another person. They work hard to make the relationship work and do not give up easily. They also do not expect you to cheat as well so know yourself before you date this type. However be warned that this doesn’t mean the person cannot break up with you. This type of person can also ask you for occasional ‘breaks’ in the relationship so they can have guilt-free fun with other people then come back to you. But usually these people are faithful, honest and will work hard to keep the romance and passion alive.

6. Someone who believes in change

One of the top killers of relationships is the ‘I can never change’ mentality. A person who says they will never change will do just that: never change! However one who is willing to adapt to your preferences and compromise, hold unto them with both hands. They will make room for you and make you feel comfortable in their lives. If you do not like something they are used to, they will meet you half way and do it less when you are around or get rid of it all together. They want to grow with you and learn from you as well. They will accommodate you perfectly and you may not get your way in the end but you will definitely always know they try their best to make you happy and comfortable.
