Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has been bashed by a section of Nigerians over claims that President Muhammadu Buhari was harassing his government by threatening functionaries of the government with arrest. He said: “Certain top functionaries of the Ekiti State government and some important members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, and some associates of mine, have now been pencilled down for arrest and indefinite detention by the EFCC under the guise of investigating the funds spent by the PDP on the June 21, 2014 governorship election and the Presidential election.”



He said the game plan was to make those to be arrested get detained indefinitely, forced them to make statements incriminating him, while at the same time feeding the public with orchestrated fake reports, using their usual media organs. However, Fayose’s allegation against Buhari has attracted the ire of some Nigerians who view his allegations as baseless. Following his claims, some Nigerians accused Fayose of trying to hide the atrocities that brought him to power by making baseless claims against the administration of President Buhari. Others called on the governor to pay attention to governing his state rather than making flimsy excuses for his under-performance.
