You see, my grandma didn't get much education. So, I was amazed when, one time she paid us a visit in Lagos, she complained how the roof of the house we lived in was made from asbestos sheet. I asked her why.
She said rainwater collected from asbestos roof are not safe to drink. I asked how come? Her reply was, asbestos are harmful, and they can kill
That smiley was exactly my reaction when she said this. I didn't believe her. Years later, somewhere in Ogun state, while overseeing a property under construction, one architect lamented how most of the buildings in that estate had asbestos roof. that piqued my curiosity once more, and I asked him what the problem was. He told me that asbestos are carcinogenic, and had been banned in many countries!
Now, I became alarmed. Was my almost illiterate grandma now of blessed memory, right all along?
