Worried by the incessant attacks on oil
facilities by the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA,
and other factional Militants, President
Muhammadu Buhari Friday night went
spiritual, pleading with militants in God’s
name to have a change of heart over their
attacks.
The president who stated that he doesn’t
know how many factions of the militants
there are in the Niger Delta, said that the
groups were armed with sophisticated
weapons and that the economy was on its
knees following the bombing of gas
pipelines.
He also pleaded with friends and associates
of the militants to reach out to them for,
stressing that Nigerians do not have any
other country to call their own other than
Nigeria.
The president made the call at the breaking-
of-fast dinner with leaders and chieftains of
his political party, the All Progressives
Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa,
Abuja.
He said: “I honestly don’t know how many
factions of the militants there are in the
Niger Delta compared to the north east
where you have only the Boko Haram
“The technology being deployed by the
militants to destroy oil installations is high
tech, the way they can go on high sea and
international waters and target oil
installations is a national problem. It is
affecting development.
“No insurance company will want to insure
installations that will end up being blown up
and no banks will want to finance such
installations.
“Those of you who have friends among the
leadership or even the militants themselves
should plead with them in the name of God
Almighty to take it easy.
“We need to stablise to create employment,
we need to stabilise the economy, I agonise
over these things. We are in a very difficult
time, so we have to organise ourselves.
Anybody that says he has any other country
than Nigeria should go out and see.” |

If only Buhari had called these boys very early when they started, we've not have gotten to this stage but he proved that he was a general and wanted to deal with them like boko haram terrorists but today his on his knees begging and calling on people to beg on his behalf. Well the bad news is he is coming out too late because these boys have already done the damage but the good news also is that it's better late than never. Bubu the son of hari muhammadu receive some sense and stop listening to your arrogant northern elders.Nigeria is ours but we will all destroy it if we allow our ego to go before reasoning. |

It takes courage for a great leader to bury his pride and apologies for his misleadings. I think president Buhari should be commended for this wonderful remarks, I humbly join the patriotic citizens of this noble country to beg our aggrieved brothers in other regions to plz seize fire and seek for peaceful dialogue with this govt. With war, an able youths will strike and soak up with heavy bloods while the grey hairs will run hills with empty stomach. Let maintain peace my people! |

Mr President should hold onto the Lifeline offered by the boys in the creek for discussion and negotiation, instead of alluding to FACTIONS IN THE DELTA. Mr President by his speech and disposition shows he is not prepared to EMBRACE NEGOTIATION FOR PEACE. Boko Haram is a single unit that the Government has been unable to extricate a comittment to PEACE, so why mention them if it is not to repudiate PEACE. |
