Why Yoruba, Ndigbo Insist On Nigeria’s Restructuring by Cruz889(m): 2:29pm On Jul 08, 2016
– Igbo and Yoruba socio-political organisations have reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement about Nigeria’s unity – The groups have expressed their perplexity over the president’s purblindness and inability to read the mood of the nation Yesterday President Muhammadu Buhari has once again stressed that Nigeria’s unity is not negotiable, while addresing militants whose activites in the Niger Delta region threatens the peace and cohesion of the country. However, not everyone agree with the president’s position — the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, an Igbo socio-cultural group representing all Igbo communities within and outside Nigeria, and Afenifere, a socio-cultural organization for the Yoruba people of Nigeria are among them.

Buhari can’t read the mood of the nation correctly In an interview with Vanguard Yinka Odumakin, the national publicity secretary of Afenifere, commented on the issue: “I think the President is a sincere man but he may not be reading the mood correctly. The country is divided under him than before. Amalgamation and armed dialogue are going on all around us over the unity of Nigeria which many sections perceive has treated them unfairly.

To continue to insist that the unity is not negotiable is aping that bird which buries its head in the sand and believes, because it is seeing nobody, it has become invisible too.continued
