satellite pic of INS Arihant india's first SSBN , u can notice the hatches of the missile silos r open (the white patches) many don't know this that the Arihant was first designed to be a SSN but midway , due to change of strategic power play the SSN design was converted into SSBN design hence the smaller number of missile silos. its primary purpose was to validate Indian technologies and design competency towards building SSN/SSBN technologies together with integrating and validating SLBM launch from these subs. its follow through INS Aridhaman will have more silos either 8 or 10 . there will be another SSBN of Arihant class after which a new design with ability to carry either 20 or 24 SLBMs will be built. then all the Arihant class SSBNs will be converted into SSGNs. also construction of india's first SSN is progressing well, the hull has been laid down , but info is restricted on this project. 1 Like

tdayof: lol unfortunately that EW post will take some time more but i got a clue for u , which should get ur lazy ass moving a ship borne ECM jammer can deliver significantly high effective radiated power (ERP) for effective jamming, anywhere in the order of 100 KW upwards. do u think a aircraft borne jammer can deliver enough power to chew through that ? |
Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by tdayof(m): 8:34pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
nemesis2u: I doubt if an airborne ECM jammer will ever do such. The AN-ALQ99 radiates less than 7000watts. |
Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by Nobody: 8:36pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
tdayof: edited my first post 40 KW upwards is for smaller ships like frigates etc (not necessarily though) destroyers etc have more potent ECM |
Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by Nobody: 8:40pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
tdayof: did u know that shipborne ECM jammers r used to break target lock of the active seekers of AShMs. unfortunately much of this is classified |
Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by tdayof(m): 8:50pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
nemesis2u: Okay then I think the issue here is that a ship can radiate 40k but the same ship can have its radar jammed by an airborne electronic warfare aircraft saturating 3kw of noise power. |
Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by tdayof(m): 8:51pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
nemesis2u: Yes, I have read it somewhere. I have a declassified PDF of the DOD on ECM. |

Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by Nobody: 9:22am On Apr 30, 2017 |
tdayof: its like u have been tasked to destroy a tank , but in terms of fire power u have been given a considerably less potent weapon ie RPG. so what i will do is settle for a mobility kill , the best a RPG can do for u in a best case scenario. same for a ships radar , head to head i cannot utilize my jammers to directly take it on , so what i will try to do is confuse / distract etc the radar / radar operator. u must understand airborne jammers r used as a prelude to near simultaneous attack runs by airborne assets using missiles/bombs etc. the objective of the airborne jammers is to decoy/confuse/overload the defensive/offensive EM spectrum capabilities of a ship for a bare minimum time at the least in order to facilitate a successful attack and nothing more. 1 Like |

Nemesis2u, do you have any technical details on the pod used by Egypt's Mig-29m? Is it Russian or Western? |
Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by Nobody: 9:35am On Apr 30, 2017 |
Henry240: no idea but methinks it should be Russians the Egyptians seems to keep their western and eastern block weaponry isolated as a hedge against any possible western sanctions 1 Like |
Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by Nobody: 9:58am On Apr 30, 2017 |
nemesis2u: It's the targeting pod which i find more interesting. I have never seen it before. There is also no information available online, or at least in english available . It is called a PPK or PKK pod, something like that. It is smart that way, just in case of sanctions. |

Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by Nobody: 10:32am On Apr 30, 2017 |
nemesis2u: I can't find a pic of it. However here is what i found. Egypt will be equipped with the PPK targeting pod comprising thermal imager/TV systems and laser rangefinders allowing the employment of not only precision-guided munitions (PGM), e.g. bombs and missiles carrying TV or laser homing heads, but also ‘dumb’ munitions with a circular error probable (CEP) of tens of centimeters. |

We don't pay attention to the real causes of war. What makes people take up arms in the first place? Why do we invest in weapons systems and armies? Once you look deeper at wars and those who fight them the truth is astonishing. The Black Confederates of the US Civil War We were told Lincoln declared war to fight the slave owning states and free the slaves-REEAAALLLLYYYY?? Once you look at the Confederate leaders and their soldiers the narrative falls to pieces. Confederate leader Jefferson Davis and wife,Vanna Howells. The Forgotten Confederates Obviously, many blacks fought for the South, and they weren't slaves,in fact many owned slaves;even white slaves!
