Like how the Soviets developed the Mig-27 Flogger attack aircraft from the Mig-23 Flogger fighter, the Americans did the same. In fact, it was the American development that directly inspired the Soviets to attempt the same for themselfs.

The Vought F-8 Crusader naval fighter was developed into the Ling-Temco-Vought A-7 Corsair II attack aircraft. Like the Soviet Flogger, the resulting aircraft shared a common airframe design with it's parent and looked very much alike though not to the same extent as the Soviet design.

easy force multiplier ... you let your enemies use up munition on throwaways like this and have a follow on force a few minutes after the initial attack (drones) and you get a friggin massacre .... throw in some jammers to muddle up the battle area even more

Easier said than done grin grin grin
In a airspace filled with EM emissions of all kinds , data links, SATCOM links will be the first casualty.

Bundle in AST interceptors / MW based soft kill systems to take out navigation and communication satellites overhead and Ur good to go

one of the most advanced cruise missiles in the world finally met it's match? If these are really fragments from a downed MBDA Storm Shadow, then it means the Russians ain't lying about their superior air defense systems.

Why do people always underestimate Russian equipment?

disruptors got disrupted.

The USAF's EC-130J Compass Call is a dedicated airbourne jamming platform designed to disrupt enemy communications. Ironically enough, the same system is itself not immune to electronic attack as the Russians have apparently managed to jam the the systems onboard EC-130H's deployed in Syria. The Russians have made major strides in Electronic warfare development and it seems the Americans have now fallen badly behind.

It's not the size of your ship that matters but what you arm it with that counts. The new Russian Project 22160 patrol boat is smaller then both models of American Littorial Combat Ship but packs a bigger punch then the LCS thanks to it's 3M-54 Kalibr/SS-N-27 Sizzler cruise missile armament which the LCS lacks. The irony is, this class was inspired by the American LCS and is Russia's response to it.

Algeria is also getting some.

Something we don't see everyday. A Ilyushin Il-76 Candid cargo plane firing it's tail guns. The Russians are the only ones who retained the tail gun on their transport fleet.

What about seaworthiness and persistence and endurance and damage resistance

Firepower is just a single aspect
It u get hit and Ur ship can't absorb the damage and strike back then it's a loss.

My point we must factor in all aspects and not limit ourselves to firepower only.

Obviously tactics will play a role which will look to exploit the strong points.

And these classe of ship's have a definite role that is hit and run.

Anyways
Will need baptism by fire to come to a definite conclusion grin
