Nigeria is not ripe for state police. With the current situation some of our highly placed individuals can hide their hate and disdain for tribes and religion. 2 Likes |

Good idea. Seems Baba wants to give Nigerians one of the things they've always asked for. But I fear our politicians aren't mature enough for this yet- we might see governors turn Emperors overnight. 1 Like |

State police is a nice development in developed, but my concern is that, how do you expect state that couldn't pay workers salary to pay police? We need to get our priorities right, establish true federalism, cleans the judiciary, give out loans to small scale business owners, reduce corruption. Desist from nepotism which buhari is exhibiting, stabilise electricity, empower our security outfit, Bring back Nigerian expert from diaspora to develop d country, raise standard of education and health facility believe in our nation and encourage Nigerian made product .... With all these, Nigeria will become a better place to live... we should Use Dubai as case study...late 90s they used to b one of d poorest nation in the world... but with determined visioneers, they r one of d best country in d world... we r better than them with everything..... And Mr Osinbajo, plz don't just sit @ aso rock like dundee and allow Buhari to b Arewalising the country, d military and paramilitary commanders is a sign dt u jst a figure head... do sometin... God Bless Nigeria.....#SipsHotKunuWithPeakMilk |

Over 50 years and the Nigerian police are still ineffective and everyday national security threats are on the increase, the introduction of the state police system is one move that should've been advocated a long long time ago, we can't keep doing the same thing over and over and be expecting different results |

State police has its pros and cons... Pros = more employment opportunities and probably effective security system... Cons = Abuse by State Governments, turning them into bullies, assassin, oppressors and making State Governors to be above the law |

We are not ripe for this, at least, not with these black men we have now. Politicians will hijack it and use them for their personal gains. 1 Like 1 Share |

With the mentality of our present crop of politicians and maturity of our democracy, State Police will turn to militias of a sitting Governor. Instead of State Police, let us have Regional Police. In fact, let us restructure the country along Regional Geo-Political distribution with fiscal federalism and resource control and we shall see Nigeria blossoming again. The present structure is unsustainable and wasteful. |

Mcowubaba:Are governors not above the law today? why do you guys place more importance on these politicains over your own security? The present police structure is not working |

SuperS1Panther:You want to create tribal police? |
Re: Osinbajo Advocates Introduction Of State Police by TheSPEAKER(m): 9:02am On Jul 13, 2016 |
It's not about new policies or number of policies. Nigeria does not need state policing. This will go a long way to destabilise the peace and security. State policing provides immunity to crime as a criminal is untouchable while in another state. State differences and many more. |
Re: Osinbajo Advocates Introduction Of State Police by SuperS1Panther: 9:03am On Jul 13, 2016 |
obiageIi: The better. Militants, marauding herdsmen and criminals that crossed their boundaries into our region will be dealt with by our tribal police. Are you happy now? |
Re: Osinbajo Advocates Introduction Of State Police by Nobody: 9:10am On Jul 13, 2016 |
obiageIi:You spoke my mind. People are placing politicians welfare over their own safety. State police has his own Advantage and disadvantage. Security to grass root for citizens and more power to state goverment. |

PMPhoenix:They said Nigeria is no ready for it, Maybe after oil price crash to 23$ and more ethnic cleansing commence then we would be ready for it. Like we are not ready for region resource control in 1965, same way we are not still ready in 2016. Who is deceiving who ?. 1 Like |

Resource Control of Sourcing and Applications by 36 States or at least 6 Autonomous Regional Divisions is advocated and it is different from just resource allocation. State Police should be under the Control and Responsibilities of States Chief Executives (State Governance) and have just a functional indirect relationship with the IGP. |

Babysho: APC has been in the fore-front when it comes to agitation for states' police, but FG was reluctant then because the proposal comes from opposition: Fashola was even questioned on this during ministerial screening. You need to be more informed. |

Re: Osinbajo Advocates Introduction Of State Police by Omonigeriarere: 10:02am On Jul 13, 2016 |
YoursGEJ: I agree with you. I was against this move until when Fashola sheds more light on it during the ministerial screening: he really has a good point because better structural policies can reduce corruption and mis-management of public funds, but no country has come up with policy that can revived a lost soul up till date. Just yesterday, three Police Officers were met in a police station when my friend need their service in part of Kosofe: can three police even defend a compound? I think State Police is overdue in Nigeria. 1 Like |
