Good one for the history book.

Everything was going on well, until Kaduna Nzeogwu now decided to destroy the Military institution with that Coup, and Ojukwu put the Nail on It with the needless War.

This was when our Military had people of integrity. We will get revert back to this status quo one day again.

North resisted same at ABU!

Still there was dissatisfaction by SE, the officers from the region killed this same Balewa!!!!

Out of all the most senior officers in Nigeria, SE has 37, none was killed. 8 from the north, all of them were killed. 10 from the west, 2 were killed.

Then Ironsi imposed a unitary system of government on the country so that everything can belong to a region who snatched it!

We must know our history so that when we want to make corrections, we will not end up concealing the truth. This has nothing to do with tribalism but everything to do with the truth.....at times when lies litter the streets.

The way some of you peddle falsehoods eh!

1. Was it Ironsi that single-handedly decide the unitary system of government? What most of you always delete from history is the fact that leaders from each then region were present when that decision was taken by all. The transcript from Aburi is online for all to read and see what actually happened at that meeting. Why not help yourself and read it up? It was never about the oil but the will of the people of the Eastern region to secede from Nigeria with the endless and senseless killings going on up North.

2. Igbos have always and will always support meritocracy over mediocrity.

3. Let me even ask you, why do people now tell Igbos of present day SS that they aren't Igbos since Nzeogwu who carried out the first coup was of SS origin yet, the coup was tagged an Igbo coup?

Bros, lie small small.

Firstly, you meant to say Eastern region, not South East.
Secondly, the Quartermaster General, Col Unegbe, was killed, and he was Igbo.
Thirdly, 4 senior Northern officers were killed, not 8. They were Brig. Maimalari, Col. Largema, Col. Yakubu Pam, and Col. Kur Mohammed.

You are yet to tell us what is wrong with the Northern region having a Northernization policy for the benefit of its own people?

Must the Igbo man be the one to benefit in the North when the Northerners had no benefit in the Eastern region?

Are you clearly admitting that the Igbo officers deliberately murdered the Northern premier because he was aware of their domination agenda even in the North and dealt with him for daring to obstruct the plans of the greedy Igbos who gave nothing to anyone else in their own region?

Did the Igbos have plans to make the North their own property in addition to the Eastern region? Was the premier killed for being a stumbling block to their domination plans?

The below mindset of an unrepentant Igbo bigot about dominating other people's region might help paint a clear picture of this cultural greed.

36xtr09r:

Lagos is not your father's property.

Igbos travel to Lagos to take advantage of Yoruba visionlessness, docility and gross ineptitude. About a century ago the Europeans competed amongst themselves in trooping to Africa. That's business acumen and economic expansion at work!

Was Akintola murdered for also complaining that the Igbo led administration at the university of Ibadan employed lots of Igbo staff and gave only an insignificant number of employment to Yorubas on their own land?

Simply put, Akintola and Ahmadu Bello were killed by Igbo officers for not being docile, and for not being hospitable to the plans of the Igbos, who as disclosed by one of their own above, take advantage of their docile hosts.

Does the january coup explain why Cyprian Ekwensi was quick to take over administration of a Northern region agency and was quoted as saying "we have taken over.", even when the regional governments were still in place? An establishment that had no business with the federal government, but solely belonged to the Northern regional government.

ok here we go again with lousy lying propagandists. Please who stated we must mke protect nigeria which is an estate of usman dan fodio, n must ensure we use the minorities in the north as willing tools, n ensure we control the resources of our southern neigbours, we must ensure they nvr control their destiny“ this was one of sardaunas alleged quotes..

Now tht being said, u equivocally stated tht igbos wanted to dominate the north( like igbos were interested in northern politics), igbos are naturally hardworking and in any operational system, cant be ignored. Ironically the first mayor of enugu was a hausa and he nvr had issues. Neither did igbos care about his ethnicity. Its not our fault the rest of you are too scared to leave your comfort zones to compete.
The same igbo domination propaganda your fathers spread to decieve esp the eastern minorities but now theyve realised the truth. Ofcos our resources hve made ur elite super rich and yet ure still tlkn igbo domination..

Oga please explain why under his watch ( sardauna) there were killings from the 1930s. 1940s, 1950d. 1960d and he NEVER even condemned the pogroms instead was going from one media house to the other spreading igbo hate. If u cows clearly want a united nigeria why wouLd u destroy merit n bring in bigotry. Ofcos after the northernisation, the rest is history. Look how that lousy policy destroyed every facet of life for you ppl. Now even in the next 10 light years you will never be able to compete with the south.. Thanks to bigotry.,

I ask again , was it igbo domination that led ur blood thirty fathers on rampage from 1936, 1939, 19405, 1953, 1956. 1959. 1963. 1964. Etc ? Or igbos were dominating as early as 1930s under britain?

You beasts can never answer this question.

There was widespread mayhem particularly in the Western Region. As for the War, it was Gowon that caused the war by breaking the terms of the Aburi agreement.

Interesting.

But how did a Captain Maimalari become a Brigadier before a Major Ralph Shodeinde who was still a Colonel as at the time both were murdered in the Jan 15 1966 coup?

Because Maimalari was more qualified. Maimalari was amongst the first Nigerians to attend Sandhurst military Academy and became a full fledged combatant Army officer. But people like Shodeinde and Bassey were just recruits were given short officers training and commissioned into the Army. As can be seen in this picture, Maimalari is the same rank as David Ejoor but it was Maimalari who interviewed Ejoor when Ejoor was about to enter the Army. Sometimes, promotion in the Army is about how qualified you are not when you joined. If you don't do the necessary courses, others can leapfrog over you and become your senior. In terms of seniority, it was even Major Bassey who was the most senior being the first commissioned Nigerian officer with the Army number (N1).

Major Wellington Bassey (N1)
Major Aguiyi Ironsi (N2)
Major Ademulegun (N3)
Captain Nwawo (N10)
Captain David Ejoor(N17)

Am certain that had Awo been around (and not in jail), these guys would have had an excuse to kill him too considering how he Awo scuppered their hegemonic plans in western region through carpet - crossing, as alleged but not surprising , unsubstantiated with irrefutable evidence by our impish brothers, East of the river niger.
