The governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has described the state as the safest in the country. Ugwuanyi spoke yesterday in Enugu during the presentation of the second edition of the books; “Discovering the Police” and “Sugar Cane Receipts,” written by the state Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ojukwu, and commended the Police in the state for their support and cooperation in the efforts of his administration to maintain peace and security in the state.

The governor noted that the police had continued to play their part in the sustenance of peace in the state which had enabled the state to remain as one of the safest in the country for a long time, adding that policemen deserved to be encouraged to do more. Ugwuanyi also commended Ojukwu for his wisdom, courage and diligence in x-raying his knowledge and experience in the police for the benefit of both officers and men in the police in particular and the public in general on the need to cooperate with the agency in the fight against crime and other social vices. He expressed belief that the books would “offer a deeper insight into the principles and procedures that guide the operations and activities of the police vis-a-vis their mandate to secure the lives and property of citizens,” as well as clarify areas of doubt or scepticism against the police and thus build greater understanding and partnership between the public and the police. Earlier in his remark, the author of the books, Mr. Ojukwu thanked the governor and other dignitaries at the event for their support and show of solidarity, pointing out that he was moved by his passion and deep rooted experience in the police force to publish the books to offer insights and analyses of the security organization in a bid to create the avenue for people to understand and appreciate their operational strategies.
