Borno State governor Kashim Shettima, on Friday, announced that 250 ex-Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members have been recruited into the Nigerian Army.


Mr. Shettima, who said that he has been liaising with the Ministry of Interior to ensure that no single volunteer will be left out, as long as they have sacrificed their life defending the State and the nation.

It will be recalled that Civilian JTF volunteers have played a pivotal role in maintaining the safety of residents living under the control of Boko Haram terrorists, particularly in instances when there were no police or military in the area. Numerous Civilian JTF members have lost their lives during the course of Boko Haram's domination over Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States.

The leader of the new recruits to the army, Solomon Benjamin, thanked Mr. Shettima for his sacrifices and contributions to the Civilian JTF and promised to be a good ambassador of the State.

If this is not done, these Civilian JTF may end up becoming another menace to the society and nation at large using the materials and experience they've gathered.

How can you make enlisting young men who risked their lives regularly to keep others safe to giving automatic employment to relatives of people who lost their lives tragically?

It is not the same thing. Anyone of these men duly honored could have died in these missions. Some of them lost their lives and get no remembrance. Even Newspaper will not carry it as news.

These young men are heroes who the army worked with on numerous occasions. The army have their names and post them to different war zones. They carryout missions in the Army.

These are heroes and true brothers of Humanity. The Army honored their brothers who fought with them even though they did not wear Uniforms.
