The run up to governorship elections in Edo State took a bizarre turn on Sunday when the candidate of the Accord Party (AP) and younger brother to Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Don Pedro Obaseki turned on his own sibling.
According to reports from Benin, Obaseki has stepped down for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the September 10 2016 election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and merged his entire political structure with the PDP’s campaign machine.
Greennews.ng gathered that Pedro Obaseki, who is a veteran writer and university lecturer, reportedly merged with the PDP and endorsed Ize-Iyamu because he realised that Ize-Iyamu is the best candidate for the election.
He also reportedly described Edo Governor, Adams Oshiomhole and his brother, Godwin Obaseki as ‘betrayers who are unworthy of trust’.
