Please I Need Answers Concerning Admission Into Tertiary Institutions In Nigeria by Nobody: 9:39am On Jul 25, 2016
Good morning Nairalanders in the house.
I will like to understand the reasons why admission into Federal Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria is being shared in the ratio: Merit - 45%, Catchment - 35% and ELDS - 20%.

Why should the standard for gaining admission be reduced for some set of students who hail from states which are regarded as Educationally Less Developed States (ELDS). How where these states identified? What of the aim of creating this category of students (i.e ELDS)? Does it not have any negative effect on the standard of education in the country?, considering the fact that addmission quota are being reserved for some "less qualified candidates".

Please, I need answers.

NB: Nobody should add any tribal or regional sentiments to this.

Thank you in advance.
