The Federal Government has assured that the current shortage of food items in the country will be over in the next two years.

This was disclosed in Abuja by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, while playing host to the Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State.

Ogbeh, in a statement issued on Monday by the ministry, expressed optimism that the food shortage problems in Nigeria would soon be over, stressing that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is ready to assist state governments to ensure that the target is met.

He identified specific areas of assistance to Anambra State to be in fish fingerling production, as well as in other aspects of the sector that would help in boosting food production across the country.

The minister explained that the ministry was considering the need to add 10 per cent soya beans into cassava to enrich it with more protein and increase its nourishment for children.

He added that as the government works hard to meet its food sufficiency target by 2018, about 15,000 broken down tractors, out of the 30,000 available in the country, would be rehabilitated to support farmers in Nigeria.

2018 grin, these supporters of APC are only good for one thing, shifting the goal post.
They prefer to give their zombies something to fantasize about rather than dwell in the reality.
