jaybee3: If we could all clamor for same level of publication witnessed at the center for all states of the federation, you will know that all this billions of Naira padding is still a child play compare to the HIGH LEVEL PADDING, and contracts inflation within the states. It's high time all the 36 states in Nigeria published their full year budget, line by line. |

Assembly of rouges. They would never know peace from now till their generations downwards. They would forever be know in history as criminals. They would die of poverty and be a disgrace to their family and country forever! |

Paperwhite: Hey Paperweight, you actually got some likes from fellow Paperweight readers. Have you wondered what would happen if it were to be the past regime? Of course the padded budget woulda being signed with much fanfare, implemented and funds disbursed with same. That still transpires to free money for lazy butts that was the mainstay for six years of the previous government. The PDPians would definitely protect their own interests to the detriment of the tax payers, but this time around you have some apparently sane individuals who cried out (even if forced to do so due to a fallout of agreements) and you are here outlining your warped and sick ideology of some party causing the mess? Does corruption have a religion, belong to any race, political party or any ethnic group for that matter? That "C" word unites the various dumb personality diversities that make up governance in Nigeria, but you will rather pick up the fight against your fellow tax payers in their defence. 1 Like 1 Share |

Other than the increments on the constituency projects, all other increments in the budget were done with the aid of the ministries the contracts are related to, which includes power (fashola), and transport (ameachi). can they claim not to be aware of the padding? There is no way the nass can access such funds on thier own. The ministers usually lobby for these increments and the nass get thier kickbacks when the fictitious or hyperinflated contracts are awarded. that is the way it has always been in the country. Now the reason for our knowing today does not necessarily have to do with the scrutiny of the government, for if it did, it wouldn't have been passed into law the way it is. It's just political disagreements between thieves that has brought this to the view of the public. If buhari is serious with the corruption fight and the padding issue is true, then fashola, amaechi and any other , minister whose ministry is involved should be sacked and prosecuted ASAP. If not, we are all just wasting our time here thinking someone is fighting corruption in abuja. 1 Like |

Firefire: I believe the non-negotiable requirement that states requiring bailout was expected to endorse and implement already address some of these issues on transparency. Trust me, the government has innovative ideas and true intention which if and when fully implemented will give us the expected dividends of democracy and good governance that we yearn for. Of course they need to do more whilst resisting attempts to rest on their laurels |

kjsun15:You have forgotten that APC currently holds the majority in both Chambers of the NASS? Besides is Dogara,Jubrin,& other principal persons involved in the budget saga PDP members? I don't hold brief for any political party but critisizes whatever that is not right. Mind you keep up your APC kind of hypocrisy of never accepting blame for all the gaffes witnessed so far in this useless government. |

shammah1: Yeah. GEJ was blessed. And that was why budget padding and its endorsement by GEJ and implementation without questioning and scrutiny became a routine and pastime in his six years. Just a question for you: Nigerians left with the choices of GMB and GEJ as the only available and popular presidential candidates (note the use of the word popular, please), who would you rather Nigerians massively vote for? I won't hold brief for any politicians as of yet, especially Nigerian politicians for that matter. That is not my style. What I detest is when losers that have repeatedly flunked opportunities given to 'em tend to make people believe they would have fared better than another that have been given the same opportunity, most especially if such losers brought forth such problems in the first place. How else would you expect different result if you keep doing the same thing using the same person times over? |
