Looks good in the photos.

Hopefully they're training a lot more people so that they can expand and not overwhelm the staff that they already have..

Also, what is the number to call the emergency services? Do they have a easy to remember, well publicized emergency number? I know I've seen "112" on the Rapid Response vehicles.

112 gets you to RRS, LASEMA, LASG Fire Service etc...the respondent puts a call through to any of these based on your compliant.

Atleast Yoruba get lagos, ogun with super moving economy that can influence the other ones like ondo, osun, oyo, ekiti

What do you intend to achieve with this sort of submission? There are whole lot of things(factors) both historical, environmental and otherwise that you need to consider before comparing Lagos with any other state in Nigeria including Abuja.

Lagos is working.. We have 20years development plan for Lagos.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) was established via LASEMA Law 16 of 2008 for emergency and disaster management in the State

LASEMA was created back in 2008, but look at the same LASEMA, the best Emergency Service in West Africa today.

It means competent and visionary leaders always create ideas, programs and policies for future leaders to build on and take to the next level.

Ambode is building on what the great leaders before him started..

This is leadership at it's best...

Can you please share the current state of the attached pictures of the CCTV you brandished during BRF administration ?

Thank you in advance.

That CCTV was a Federal Government project/contract that Lagos and Abuja were sole beneficiaries.

It was an aftermath of the UN House bombing, and Nigerian government wanted to show the world they were improving security.

It was awarded to a Chinese firm by the Federal Government and installations done on locations given by LASG to NPF (a federal institution) Lagos Command.

The contract never got completed as it was embroiled in scandals and the National Assembly setting up a panel...

Lagos State government isn't liable for it.

If BRF or his supoorters used that project for publicity, that's shameful...

If the project is dead as at today, it's not BRF doing...

A 20 ft container truck with registration number EPE-498-XR lost control and fell off the road at Asolo filling station inwards Ketu Mile 12 Ikorodu on Friday 19th August, 2016 at about 3.10 pm. The LASEMA General Manager Mr. Michael Akindele advised motorists especially articulated vehicle and truck owners to ensure proper checks on the road worthiness of their vehicles and engage experienced drivers to reduce the incessant traffick accidents on our Lagos roads.

What manner of priorities in a state that cannot ensure all its children are in primary, vocational and secondary schools that are properly staffed and adequately equipped.
What manner of joblessness for a state governor who is busy doing LGA constitutionally assigned duties?
I thought Lagosians are more sophisticated to be in the 200 million group of Nigerians. I must have made a mistake.

Some days ago, I was at a secondary school in Surulere (across the bridge from the Island) in Lagos for a friend's event where he is educating secondary students about the perils of peer pressure. I honestly wasn't expecting what I saw as the state of this secondary school.
It left me wondering if this was a school or a dump yard. Why in heaven's name are Nigerian leaders looking the other way while the young ones study in this sorry environment?

The attached pictures are what I saw. This is no secondary school. It's a hopeless shanty. I hope this gets to front page and attracts the necessary attention.

The Lagos State Govt launches 10,000 CCTV cameras for her Safe City Project.

Very laudible in my opinion

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZd744ITJK4

And then again in 2016, Amb-Ole also "bought" another set of 10,000 CCTV for the "sophisticated" Lagosians. grin grin grin

donglazy:
The Lagos State Government yesterday said it had concluded plans to install 10,000 Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras statewide as part of measures to ensure that the state is secure against the activities of terrorists in the light of the insurgency rocking the country

Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Akinyemi Ashade, said this while giving a breakdown of the 2016 budget, tagged ’The Peoples’ Budget’, saying the government will also activate the existing 1,000 CCTV cameras already installed in the state.

According to him, “We will be expanding our ICT infrastructure statewide. Consequently, a budget of N9.6 billion has been approved for this purpose in 2016. This will include a Smart City project targeted at deploying technology to enhance security in the state. It will also aid our revenue generating efforts.

“We will be increasing coverage of CCTV installations in the state. Our goal is to have over 10,000 active cameras, connected by Broadband. The existing 1,000 cameras will be reactivated and these will be increased by an additional 3,000 cameras after the completion of the first phase of this project.”

Speaking on the need to beef up security and maintain law and order, the Commissioner said ”We are all aware of the security challenges in the country, and to manage this in the state we have committed about N23.5 billion for the maintenance of law and order, and to support security services in the area of vehicles, security gadgets and logistics.

“We shall continue to enhance the welfare of our security agents by providing allowances, fuelling of patrol vehicles and giving adequate life insurance covers to motivate them in 2016. We will provide more buildings for Police Area Commands in our state to enhance their performance. This budget also includes projects that will enhance security of lives and property in other areas of governance as previously enumerated.

“You will recall that this administration handed over equipment worth N4.765 billion to the Lagos State Police Command in the last quarter of 2015. In addition to the activities mentioned earlier, we have also made provisions for the completion of on-going court projects in Igando, Imota, Ajegunle, as well as Judges’ Quarters at Falomo, to complement those that had been completed.”

The Commissioner added that attention will be given to improving disaster management, purchase of firefighting, occupational and public safety equipment, and the construction of new fire stations and relief camps across the state.

Ashade said geographic information systems and business solutions will be given special attention in the course of the year.

According to him, activities to be covered under the platform include the expansion of the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) residents’ registration exercise, the issuance of permanent resident’s cards, and the consolidation of public financial management system reforms.

He said the sum of N6.5 billion has been provided for in the budget for 2016.
