A northern group, the Concerned Northern Patriots on Thursday, July 28, met in Abuja to review the one year administration of President Muhammadu Buhari on his various campaign promises. The group in a communique signed by its chairman and former acting chairman federal character commission Muhammadu Gwaska and the coordinator Simon Shango said President Buhari scored high in the fight against terrorism, and corruption. The group also kicked against the call for the sack or resignation of the chief of army staff Tukur Buratai and the minister of interior Abdulrahman Dambazau. The northern group pledged to work with all groups interested in the development of Nigeria through the President Buhari-led administration. It also said that so far, all anti-graft agencies – Economic and Financial Crimes Commission among others have been completely revitalized and empowered to investigate and prosecute corruption and criminal cases. The group said that the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists group have been dislodged in various local governments which it had claimed before during the tenure of the former president Goodluck Jonathan administration. “In the war against corruption, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other security agencies have been revitalized and made more credible, and various cases of corruption are at various levels of investigation or prosecution,” the communique said. “On the issues of security of lives and property and the Boko Haram insurgency in the north east, it is common knowledge that Boko Haram has been degraded and dislodged in the various local governments they held in the north east”, the communique added. The group further commended the president for releasing bailout funds to states to pay their workers’ salaries.
