In common parlance, a devil's advocate is someone who takes a position he or she does not necessarily agree with for the sake of argument.

Take Lawyers for example, they practically defend criminals knowing dat they are guilty, another good example is our Nigerian politicians, they try to bend the law to suit their selfish desires and interest. These examples above is almost applicable to 90% of Nigerians. We try to do things just to suit our personal interest not as a matter of fact or truth.
