Remembering The Apc’s Campaign Of Ethnic Hate Against President Jonathan by Isoni(m): 7:58am On Aug 09, 2016
By Charles Ogbu - August 8, 2016
...What goes around comes around

A little over a year ago, it was considered a noble deed by the All Progressives Congress and her supporters to unjustly malign the then president of Nigeria; Dr. Goodluck Ebere Jonathan. Even his wife and children were not spared.

These barrage of insult were not coming from foreigners ooo. They were not coming from unlettered almajiri kids somewhere in Zamfara State or some uneducated traders in Ogbete Main Market, Enugu. The insults were actually coming from well lettered men and women who were driven by sheer hate and are holding different public offices in this country today.

Everything about Jonathan from his hat, smile, suit, and even his steps were fully analyzed and turned into an object of caricature against the immediate past president and his family.

A highly placed chieftain of the then opposition party; the APC called him a kindergarten president.

“Useless Otueke man”, “Ogogolo-drinking president”, “Jonathan” etc were some of the demeaning nomenclatures the APC desperadoes and their misguided ‪#‎jollofeatingchildren‬ ‘gifted’ the then president with.

Nasir El Rufai, the current Kaduna state governor called him a stupid drunk who was sponsoring Boko Haram. He went further to describe the Nigerian army as “Genocidal Jonathanian Army” that should not be respected by Nigerians.

The then first lady was tagged a “shippopotamus” and most APC members and supporters danced ‘azonto’ in celebration.

APC online supporters hailed, jubilated and jumped like toads and were busy gloating over the insult being heaped on their president and their military that was paying the ultimate price to keep them safe.

All the sacrifices of the Nigerian Army were mocked and made a matter of perspective. Nothing was spared.

During and after the election, Igbos were repeatedly maligned unjustly and called all sort of names just for choosing to vote their convictions.

People who refused to chose either of the two leading candidates were not even spared by the Buhari camp. They were bullied without mercy. Large number of Buhari supporters either unfriended or blocked some of their Facebook friends simply for refusing to support the Buhari candidacy.

We were tagged “ethnic bigots”, “haters”, “enemies of Nigeria” etc by those who supported Buhari. Our right to support any other candidate or no candidate at all was never acknowledged by these ‪#‎ChildrenOfChange‬

Fast forward to this day, these same guys who constituted themselves into cyber terrorists, thugs and bullies not too long ago are now the ones going all preachy about how wrong it is to insult your president and the need to respect other people’s right to chose a political candidates. These are the same people who cheered when president Buhari clearly suggested he was going to punish those from the 5% region who didn’t give him their 100% votes.

“Charles, your language is too harsh”, “why do you like insulting people?”, “You have a point but you need to watch your diction and stop bullying people who voted for Buhari” etc

These are some of the things I read from these ex-torturers of mine — the same people who made their careers insulting and maligning their compatriots for no just cause some months ago

It is not the hypocrisy of these guys that sickens me. It is the sheer audacity that accompanies it. More like the criminal audacity of an arsonist asking to be treated as the firefighter.

Even the biblical devil will be wondering why he is still being treated like the bad guy when people like these guys still exist.

For shame!

This Charles Ogbu should not leave his 9 to 5 Job.

He does not have a future in writing.

Still trying to make sense of the article, and i hereby conclude the article is a senseless and biased one.

Because no matter how you try to analyze this write up,it still comes back to one point, and that point is that the writer is a PAINED Ibo man, since one of his grouse was being called an ethnic bigot and a 5%er that refused to give his 100%.

Why are we even still visiting the pre-election days of President Buhari?there was enough name callings then, started by the PDP to last a lifetime.

The PDP started the fear thing,by calling Buhari the sponsor of Boko Haram, and I remember when that did not work, the APC was tagged a Muslim party.

If somebody had told me Buhari would win,I would have doubted it. And so the pull him down (P.HD)writers from across the bridge have started again.

But this time,we are prepared for them.

The worst of them is el rufai (another extremist like buhari) using insultive words on a president, he is now a governor. Even the world renowned professor Soyinka calling the first lady shipopotamus. Smh. (He is now wailing)

This shows that wisdom isn't by age.

One of the most pitiable excuse I have heard from the APC loyalists is that they didn't support Jonathan removal of subsidy because they didn't trust him.

It is becoming a very dangerous joke

OP you are insincere with your analysis. What will you call all the advertisements placed by PDP wishing pmb death? From all your analysis never did any apc member or sympathizer wish Gej death so why did pdp wish pmb death?

The purpose of this thread is not not ascertain whether APC or PDP jeered one another or wished whoever dead. For the records, how many opposition members, pressmen, journalists to name a few were intimidated alas arrested for expressing their views during GEJ's tenure? Why then are people with contrary view about the government of the day being intimidated by the APC led government?

Just yesterday a popular Nigerian blogger and political commentator, Mr Abubakar Sidiqu Usman, also known as Abusidiqu, was arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for "Cyber Stalking" whatever that means. Incidentally, Abusidiqu is an APC apologist.

So if an APC apologist is still being held at EFCC net for reasons not related to economic and financial crimes then... off-course you know the rest.

Keep supporting impunity but also note that what goes around comes around...

Why did they make the statement? There has to be a reason but here Namadi clearly said Buhari should not be voted because his vp is a pastor

Funny how the cookie crumbles.

Look at Oby Ezekwesili's ugly face above. The most shameless of the lot. The most used...and dumped!

People you think are smart are really not smart. They are just too confident and brash. Best way to describe Oby.

For El rufai; he'll never govern this country, even if he gives his life. Infact, he should start preparing his handover notes in Kaduna cos he's not going back in 2019.

For Fashola; the myth had been finally demystified that there's nothing spectatcular about him. He was just an ordinary Joe in Lagos with a lot of IGR and the media in his pocket to play with(I read in one column today, that Tinubu during his time bought the Lagos press by allocating choice lands to Editors of Newspaper houses. Read Ebere Wagbara's Column in the Sun 8/08/2016).

See you now sounding sober

Abusidiqu was arrested for cyber stalking which fall under the cyber crime act which is a law passed by Gej and was used by Gej to harass some bloggers

I insist this thread is unnecessary because compared to pdp and it's supporters , what apc did was small.

And where is the impunity here . A man committed a crime and he is being interrogated on it , if he had not been picked up it's folks like you who will still say he is being left alone because he is an apc apologist . Na wa for una

EFCC does not have powers under the extant laws, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act 2004, to investigate, arrest, detain or prosecute any person for any alleged offence except in respect of economic and financial crimes.

Remember that internet does not forget.

Abagworo, the point here is not about the ethnicity but the insult on the office of the president and attacking his person. No matter how you may try to twist it, the then opposition started with Yar'Adua, then Jonathan was insulted. I remember when his wife was called a 'domestic appendage' (though, she had it coming grin), Jonathan was called Jonada.ft and the name stuck, thanks to a certain Nairalander and other unprintable names. I recall Reference warning about this issue coming to stay should people continue but no one paid heed. Bottom line, whatever PDP or wailers are dishing out to the president, same was done to the past president and it has come to stay. Do not start what you will not like in the end. undecided
