As part of the measures to rid the state of criminality, Governor Ambode has ordered the demolition of all shanties in the state which serve as hideouts for criminals and miscreants. In this light, the Lagos Environmental Task Force and Health officers have begun the demolition of shanties in major roads and streets in various parts of the state. The directive tagged “Operation No Shanties in Lagos” is part of the measures aimed at reducing criminality in the state. The operation will also include roadside food sellers who do not comply with both the environmental and public health laws. Health Inspectors on their normal Thursday environmental routine Next questions are: 1. What happens to night business in this locality? 2. What happens to the income generated by Local government in this area? 3. What happens to the economic livelihood of those to be affected due to high cost of leasing commercial space? 4. How does the government improve the welfare of the citizens? Nonsense action 53 Likes 3 Shares |

About time. Give it a few hours. The purveyors of poverty, the useless professional hacktivist without a day job like Adeniran and Odumakin, will be all over TV and the pages of newspapers talking rubbish. The biggest favour lagos can do to Nigeria is to discourage the idea of rural -lagos migration. 34 Likes 3 Shares |

Great initiative as far as showmanship. If you don't address the issues causing people to build shanties, they'll be back in 3 years flat. I don't know if this government believes in institutions and standardizing practices the way it believes in random sentimental action. Like someone said this is from rural-to-lagos migration, which comes from a country of 180 million people having 1 international seaport. 10 Likes |
