Garri (also known as gari , garry, gali, "cassava flakes" or tapioca ) is a popular
West African food made from cassava
tubers . The spelling 'garri' is mainly used in
Nigeria, Cameroon , Sierra Leone , Benin, Togo and 'gari' in Ghana . Either spelling is used in Nigeria. In some sub-Saharan regions of Africa, it is referred to as 'gali'.

grin Cassava dust....but the price is subjective, territorial and perhaps is a reflection of how badly our economy has become because if you ask the farmer how much his cassava should truly sell for (I did on a rare visit to a farming community a few days ago) and you ask a chef how much those meals should cost, you get an entirely different picture, a picture of deepening poverty here. It may seem strange to us and we may laugh at it but the truth is....that it is us Nigerians that are getting poorer, not the goods and services that are getting pricier. The world is leaving us behind. That our minimum wage is just 45 dollars does not indict the world, it rather indicts us. And our mentality of judging things from the point of consumerism, purchasing, importing all the time is one big stumbling block we must get out of our national psyche. The question I will ask any scorner is, why don't you put yourself in the position of the producer, the manufacturer, the seller, then you begin to see posibilities that our poor economy has the potentials to create great wealth because the margins between local farm and offshore table (as in this case, is just monumental). This is the mindset of folks in developed economies. Their crashing currencies are not all catasrophic but offer temporary opportunities to the wise and prudent.
