Guaranty Trust Bank on Wednesday reported 91.38 billion naira half-year pre-tax profit, more than 63.11 billion declared in 2015.

The leading fintech bank and one of the largest banks in Nigeria announced net interest income of 79.12 billion naira, slightly below 80.12 naira recorded a year ago.

In the first quarter of the year, when GTBank announced 30.68 billion profit. First Bank of Nigeria, one of the biggest banks reported a 82 percent drop in profit in the same period, while other banks like Skye Bank were rescued by AMCON.

Even though, most financial institutions in Nigeria are struggling to cope with the current economic downturn in the nation, GTBank has proved its leadership through consistency and implementation of modern financial technology that has helped reach a wider audience.

Your last paragraph though. There's nothing special about the result.

All banks operate in the same challenging environment

You are very right, especially with banks like First Bank struggling to stay afloat without oil money or recent rescue of Skye Bank. Bro same challenging environment, but different approach.

The wealth of the capitalists emanates from the exploitation of the workers. For every kobo made, a naira was lost by a worker or a customer.

And some jobless yoots stay awake daily online complaining of Nigerian economic situation. If the economy is as bad ad being portrayed, GTB wouldn't have this huge profit.

This change is really showing banks and firms who survive(d) on looted monies. No Diezani cash again, eyes don clear.

with all their numerous charges and majority of their staff are outsource. you could go to a branch and only 2 of the branch staff are core staff while the rest are outsourced and all all work same job description, same hours, but different pay. how the core staff benefit from profit sharing while the outsourced staff who also contributed to the declared profit of the bank he's home with nothing .

Bros, ITK isn't a good thing o. There are many things you think you know too but may be actually wrong, does that make you an illiterate?

Besides, this is English, even the Britons and Australians don't know every part of it.

Easy access to funds is one of their strong points. A whole lot of platforms to chose from when it comes to making deposits, transfers or withdrawals.

However, i believe that their level of customer service has dropped drastically. I don't know the folks in charge of their recruitment but they need to be advised. The way their customer care staffs frown and act is terrible these days. I went to one particular branch and all 3 customer care reps were frowning. undecided
