God bless you my brother. They should try and visit onitsha on Sunday maybe just maybe they will stop this lie

Whoever that wrote this trash had not been to Onitsha shoprite before.
If i had seen this bull.poo around 3pm. I would have taken pictures of people almost fighting cos of que just to buy bread.
Onitsha shoprite shuts their doors and stop people from going in almost every sunday cos of over crowd.
If this writer had said ONITSHA MALL idles away, i wouldhave said he is right.
Cos right now, apart from few businesses like Kilimanjaro, Blueribbon, SLOT, Priceless etc. Most of the shops are yet to be taken.
Bros, take a walk to shoprite anyday especially weekend, u will have a different mindset. This writeup is trashy bull.poo & filled with mis information.

I thought I was the only one who noticed low patronage at dominos especially the one at Agnes.
Chukzyfcb:
crap crap crap. the mall isn't booming now is as a result of the economy, its affecting the purchasing power of the people. come to lag, cold stone ice cream and dominos pizza wey people dey rush wellaz before every weekend. these days their fast food outlets has been looking like a shadow of its former self.
you will find fewer cars at the parking lot. dont believed this crap written here, low patronage is something affecting the whole nation. peoples purchasing power has been eroded these past months. look around you and you will tell for urself #fear the news media ooooo

gringringringringrin I really was expecting this report. I laugh those that took shops at Shoprite. It was a heavy mis calculation on their part.
Onitsha is surrounded with different busy markets that specialise on all kinds of goods. Majorie domestic goods.

The beauty of these markets is the fact that their locations are at strategic sites which are very close to different places.
Someone living at Fegge has Head Bridge, Ochanja and Main Market as the closest market run to for his needs.
Another living in Odoakpu has Ochanja or main markets for his needs.
Another living at Woliwo has Ochanja and Relief market for his needs.
Someone living at Awada can trek to Relief market or Head Bridge or even Electronics for his home gadgets.

Shoprite saw these markets still wanted to compete with these markets when they are not selling at a cheaper rate?? . I laugh at their stupidity.

Shoprite failure in Onitsha only proves that there is low population of middleclass in the city. Maybe almist everyone is trying to make ends meet. I personally find it very difficult entering a filthy open market and it is so for most upper middle class in Port Harcourt. Mile one, Oil Mill, Creek Road etc are well patronised but yet there are hindreds of thousands left that have barely been to the open markets in their life time.

na only Imo you see mention abi... aturu... that's the reason why you guys are second to them

my dear ooh.. I dont know why that statement is annoying me. anambra ppl are so insecure!! Abia is the real industrial/business hub in the southeast, these are the real inventors and It is an established fact that they have one of the highest number of richest people in the southeast, the only problm with them is that they are too quiet and dont give hoot about bragging! I have noticed that imo people are naturally anambras nightmare, maybe because they have the highest population(yes imo state indigenes'are the highest in the southeast and among the top 5 in nigeria,' probably due to the fact that it was the first igbo state), intellectual prowess and beauty of their ladies, but just like abia, they do not give a shit, they are living their quiet happy comfortable lives without disturbing anyone. I was reading with huge dismay the other day how one anambra slowpoke was insulting ebonyi ppl, omg..i almost cried. very disrespectful. Ebonyi ppl are very hardworking and somewhat content, the average ebonyi man just wants to live his life, but they insecure humans will not let them be. it is the youngest igbo state and it still has a lot of potential, let them be!!! anambra ppl are slowly but surely isolating themselves from the rest of the southeast. many of them are so stupid that they do not realize that anambra is naturally the business hub simply because of its strategic location and nothing more!' its just like lagosians bragging and chestbeating around like these people. truly illiteracy is a big disease. igbos stop the divisiveness, there was nothing like states before government mapped us. we all onces existed as clans and villages, but we are still igbos thats the most important thing. yorubas have realized that a long time ago aand they love themselves and see themselves as brothers and sisters, what about the fulanis??those once even recognize fulanis from niger and chad as their siblings, but we igbos nawa oooh

since when did buying from luxury stores or formal retailing centres a criteria to good leaving? so i should go for costlier goods to boost foreign market nd leave my fellow nigerians deprived of their source of living.

Onitsha, the headquater of retailing will definitely knock out foreign retailer. even if shoprite is idle, Main market is boom. Onitsha does not have ajebutters, only real businessmen who are very tight fisted
Re: Onitsha Shoprite Idles Away by Doug07034780891(m): 10:07pm On Aug 18, 2016
Nonsense chat from a poor imolite. Onitsha mall is booming and it has very large population of middle class with purchasing power. It is well bigger than Owerri mall that is more or less a supermarket where imolites carry their baskets on the head.

i don't see any reason why igbos should allow these foreign retailers to destroy the local economy, nobody should patronize them.

It is usually a measure of how much disposable income people have.
You must be financially buoyant enough, and have everything you need before you start thinking of buying more expensive stuff. That is the kind of shopping in places like Urban London, Swiss markets, etc.
It isn't meant for paupers and people living from hand to mouth

where did u buy d weed u smoked? so u are teling me that the reason shoprite stores in abuja, lagos, enugu, ibadan etc are patronized is that there are richer people there than in onitsha.

every onitsha man got his money through his sweat, no govt looters and no free oil money in circulation, therefore no wasteful spending. Building multistorey is onitsha man's dream not partying and wasting money. the numerous markets are booming and the expansion of the city is eating up all the neighburing towns

[quote author=Joe4lv post=48600159]Onitsha will crumble finally when Asaba shoprite goes live y December. Thank God they have stop work at Nnewi's shoprite which is located at the worst place such thing should be.

I wonder who did the business consultation for Onitsha and Nnewi's shoprite. They are ill advised and so will later fold up.
[/quote)
What's wrong with nnewi's location.
