One wonders what the toothless Nigerian Labour Congress has become. It seems all the old people there are good with is nothing but deducting union dues from our salaries and attend government functions.

With the heat & tension in the country months ago as a result of fuel price increase by the federal government and the reactions from the general polity it was expected to be a tough one. At the peak of it all the NLC came in to bring about dialogue bearing the mind of the masses to the federal government. Coincidentally the issue happened to be at the same period the NLC was (Suppose) to negotiate with the Federal government on increase in Minimum Wage which was to be another advantage to the NLC. Its so funny that ever since then nothing have been mentioned or heard about those negotiations.

In conclusion I will just say the NLC only came in as a tool of the federal government to silence the the agitating masses. Till Today nothing has been done to reduce the fuel price instead we are expecting another rise in price, cost of commodities have skyrocket, job loss everyday and everyday. Please When will the NLC be scrapped?

OK they didn't help to bring the country to a halt.
They are not good.

Federal Govt or not, they're a sorry bunch of slow-thinking, money-guzzling bootlickers to me.

Much like NCC before the visionary leadership of Frank Nweke Jnr, NLC nearly has no current solutions to 21st century labour issues. Even the Abuja cum National Mass Housing Project they went round pushing with Kriston Lally EPC Nig Ltd turned out to be a poorly calculated bandwagon effect type of cash-trap.
See: http://www.premiumtimesng.com/investigationspecial-reports/175109-massive-fraud-stalls-nlc-kriston-lally-housing-scheme-leaving-thousands-stranded-2.html.
They personally wrecked lots of friends in the Public Service because many of them subscribed for 3/4 more units per family as a sort of post-retirement layaway plan so when it flopped You do the Math!

NLC's near-comatose involvement with private sector labour challenges and the near-enslavement status of many average-level workers especially in the Nigerian Manufacturing sector leaves much to be desired and tells me they're not only brain-dead but are merely deploying fake camaraderie to despoil the gullible and already pressed Nigerian workforce.

Their almost nonexistent National Assembly lobby-fronts tells me they are not even ready to serve the working masses. The only thing they know is threatening and staging non-strategic meaninglessly retrogressive sstrike actions. Are there no Bills to be pushed for the Labour Interests of Nigerian workers?! Yes, there are but these old id1otic thieves are never there to represent.

Despite the fact that the Armed Forces & Paramilitary Services are oath-bound not to engage in union activities, does that mean their labour interest are not covered under NLC's mandates? And if not, what moves is NLC making to ensure many of these patriotic "Rugged/Gallant" officers dont die for nothing or their families disintegrate catastrophically on account of forced poverty/hardship in the event of their demise in service.

It's true! We all seem to have this casual attitude about soldiers throwing themselves at insurgents' bullets in the name of safeguarding us but do we ask why, after 3-4 yes some of their families are still lobbying for their husband/father's entitlements at their various HQs while NLC sits comfortably in the saw ABUJA, unmoved?!

Why is it that NLC has left Labour & Industrial Rights Advocacy to self-help groups and individuals like "Ordinary" Ahmed Issah "the people's president" of Wazobia FM, while they themselves have almost no "personal" involvements, on-record-with-specific-solved-cases, in any other sector except Oil & Public Servants salaries?!

The NLC should be unbundled, restructured, thoroughly gutted and made functional, actively nationalistic, service-driven, peoples passionate and visionary as is supposed to be, not the present garri & groundnut association of loafers up in Abuja f00ling themselves like we have now!

What halt would they have brought better than the continous backwardness we are experiencing now?
