kretoz:Can you see the part I bolded? The person that wrote the note put the clue there. There is a question mark before the name Crimson. The question mark is the clue because one of them is named "MARK" Crimson and that was how I was able to say Mark did it. |

Re: Brain Teaser by naturalwaves: 3:09pm On May 25, 2017 |
kretoz:You are welcome! The more you solve puzzles, the more you get to know how they appear. The answer to most questions are usually in the question itself. The first thing I usually do is to read in between the lines. If nothing comes up, I will then start considering other possibilities. 1 Like |

A dysfunctional family has to cross the river. On one side of the river are a mom and 2 daughters, dad and 2 sons, the maid and the dog. There is a boat only big enough to hold 2 people (counting the dog as 1 person). Only the adults are capable of operating the boat. Everyone has to get to the other side, without anything bad happening. Now the difficulties are : if the dog is left with anyone and the maid isn’t there to control him, he’ll bite. The dad can’t be left with any of the daughters when the mom isn’t there. Likewise, the mom can’t be trusted alone with either of the sons when the dad isn’t there. Remember! only an adult can operate the boat, and the boat can’t drive itself. Cc: femi4, piperson, Epicmaurice, Smallish, 4kings, kretoz, joshysmartie, naturalwaves |

Nine IITians were sitting in a classroom. Their prof wanted to test them. One day he told all of his 9 students that he has 9 hats, colored either in red or black. He also added that he has at least one hat with red color and the no. of black hats is greater than the no. of red hats. He keeps those hats on their heads and ask them tell me how many red and black hats I have? Obviously students can not talk to each other or no written communication, or looking into each other eyes; no such stupid options. Prof goes out and comes back after 20 minutes but nobody was able to answer the question. So he gave them 10 more minuets but the result was the same. So he decides to give them final 5 minutes. When he comes everybody was able to answer him correctly. So what is the answer? and why? Cc: femi4, piperson, Epicmaurice, Smallish, 4kings, kretoz, joshysmartie, naturalwaves |
Re: Brain Teaser by femi4: 9:34pm On May 31, 2017 |
annnikky:Since the no of black hats are greater than that of red hats and at least one red hat in the combination. We have four possible outcomes. These are: 1 red, 8 blacks 2 reds, 7 blacks 3 reds, 4 blacks 4 reds, 5 blacks The max no of red hats possible is four (Since the no of red hats can't be greater than black) Therefore, everybody answered him at 4reds , 5 blacks |

Re: Brain Teaser by Deiok(m): 5:30pm On Jun 03, 2017 |
annnikky:I think the answer is three read hats and 6 black hats. How did i come to this is, firstly the prof. Told them there is atleast one red hat, and the black hats are more in numbers. so the first period they couldnt provide any answer, and so also the second, and in the third period when the proffessor told them its their final chance, they all went for three red hats six black hats. I think maybe because of the three period. |

Four glasses are placed on the corners of a square table . Some of the glasses are upright (up) and some upside-down (down). You have to arrange the glasses so that they are all up or all down (while keeping your eyes closed all the time). The glasses may be re- arranged in turns subject to the following rules. 1. Any two glasses may be inspected in one turn and after feeling their orientation you may reverse the orientation of either, neither or both glasses. 2. After each turn table is rotated through a random angle. 3. At any point of time if all four glasses are of the same orientation a ring will bell You have to come up with a solution to ensure that all glasses have the same orientation (either up or down) in a finite number of turns. The algorithm must be non- stochastic i.e. it must not depend on luck . |
Re: Brain Teaser by femi4: 7:01pm On Jun 06, 2017 |
annnikky:First turn, choose diagonally glasses and turn them up. Second turn, choose one of the adjacent glasses and turn it up, if the bell didn't ring, it means we have three glasses up. Next turn, choose the diagonal pair of glasses, if one of them is down, turn it up and the bell will ring. If both are up, turn one down. So, there are two glasses down, and they must be adjacent. On the fourth turn choose two adjacent glasses and reverse both. If both were in the same orientation then the bell will ring. Else there are now two glasses down and they must be diagonally opposite. Finally, choose a diagonally pair of glasses and reverse both, and bell will ring. |

Re: Brain Teaser by femi4: 7:26am On Jun 09, 2017 |
annnikky:[9*5] [9*5] [(9*5) + (9*5) - 5] That give us 454585 |

A horse, a donkey and a camel were stolen. Three suspects: Robert, Scott and Tommy. All we know that each person stole one animal, but we do not know who stole which. Here are the investigation statements. Robert: Tommy stole the horse. Scott: Tommy stole the donkey. Tommy: They both were lying. I did not steal the horse or the donkey. Later on, police found out => The man who stole the camel told a lie. The man who stole the horse told the truth. Can you find out who stole which? |
