The Police in Enugu State, Friday, confirmed the arrest of one the suspected masterminds of the herdsmen attack on Attakwu community.

It was recalled that suspected Fulani herdsmen had carried out an early morning attack on the Enugu West community, leading to the death of a seminarian, Mr. Lawrence Nwafor.

Four others, including a pregnant woman, whose intestine was ripped off, are still battling for survival.

However, in a statement issued by the Enugu State Police command’s spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, he said one of the suspects had been apprehended.

According to him, the “Nigeria police force in its resolve towards unmasking those behind the dastardly act perpetrated at Ndiagu Attakwu community of Akegbeugwu in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu state in the early hours of 25/8/16, which left one person dead and four others critically injured, have nabbed a suspect identified as one Umaru Isah from Gusau Zamfara State over his alleged involvement in the incident.

“His arrest came through intelligence information gathered. The said suspect, who claimed that he is 20 years old, revealed that he came in from Gusau Zamfara State to Enugu recently for the purposes of rearing cattle, but has none to rear till now.

“Investigations have commenced in full scale into his nefarious activities with a view to unmasking his gang members so that they can be brought to book.

“The state commissioner of police Emmanuel Ojukwu has vowed to unmask all those involved in the dastardly act and bring them to book.”

U are absolutely right, Enugu should be a herdsmen free zone, no cows should be allowed in the state.

Anybody that want to live in Enugu should have ID cards, carry it always for wen police stop and ask. If ur a visitor, get a visitor ID card.


The pain of seeing that pregnant woman intestines ruined my whole day yesterday and very upset even today. They should do something before we run mad. These are our women and we should be able to protect them at home. By the looks of it, we cannot even protect ourselves.


I dont think hausa fulani will tolerate igbos killing their imam, raping their women and killing their people like this in the north. Do to others, wat u will like, if done to you. Do u remember the igbo woman killed for requesting a man not to occupy the front of her shop in the name of prayer? That was reason enough for a mob to gather and commit murder on an elderly woman in the north.

but by the way who said the IBO cannot rear cattle? they can go and learnt it from overseas and how the developed nation is rearing cattle's. the government need to play it quota to subsidize it for farmers to be able to compete with market price.

help to import foreign cattle breed that grows quickly within a year with more meat. there is also milk for industries that will boost local product.

The life of our people has value and becos this is the second time fulani are killing people in Enugu, to prevent this reoccuring and as a mark of respect to the people who lost their life, fulani herdsmen should be ban from Enugu. We value our people life. They are a threat to public peace.
