Emerging reports earlier suggested that a bomb went off at the secretariat of the Isoko Development Union in Oleh, a university town in Delta state. Sources reveal that the huge blaze ripped through the facility, popularly known as Isoko House, hours after the union began its annual conference there. According to Premium Times, the incident appeared to be a coordinated attack, but authorities stressed that no group has claimed responsibility as at 5:00pm on Friday, August 26. The Niger Delta, where Delta State is situated in Nigeria’s oil-rich south, has witnessed an escalation of hostilities in recent months, as militants targeted oil installations in a sustained effort to force the hands of the Nigerian government to up the region’s share of oil revenues. Meanwhile, the union has resumed the event with its annual award ceremony currently underway, the witness said. Following the news of the latest bomb attack in Delta state, Nigerians have reacted on social media. Below are the takes of Nigerians on the issue. Ibrahim Billy reacting to a comment which suggested that bad economy should be blamed for the menace in the south-south, said: “what is the meaning of bad economy were many have turn saboteurs just to destroy Nigeria I hope its not your teeth that will use to grow the economy but natural resources which they are happily destroying.” Aminu Ahmed said: “Avengers Terror groups Begin act of their interest in Niger Delta bloody region,,,,Go ahead.” A very heated debate has been stirred regarding the issue on ground. What do you think can be done to curb the menace of terror within the Niger Delta region. https://www.naij.com/944645-bomb-rocks-isoko-house-in-delta-state-nigerians-react-photos.html?source=index_main
