Students of Lagos State University College of Medicine are protesting against the management of the colleg at the Governor’s Office in Alausa,
Lagos. A student, who identified himself as Tunde, said he had been in the institution for about nine years due to the poor management of the college.

He said the students were angry tha funds released by the state Governor to address the issues in the institution had not been properly utilised by the Ministry of Health and the school management.

That is just the mild bit.

Medical education in Nigeria is affected badly by strikes. Not only by ASUU strikes, but also by hospital strikes.

In other words....when JOHESU,NARD,MHUN(plus the ASUU,NASU and company) go on strike....medical students in tertiary institutions are affected badly too.It adds years to your studies (Unlike regular students who get affected by ASUU, NASU and SSAUTHRAI strikes)

And God help you if you are from one of the schools struggling for accreditation.

That is why reading medicine in Nigeria....na fire by fire.

They cannot protest oh.
Lagos state has been excellently managed by the progreTHIEVES of Tinubu/Fashole/Ambole since 1999.
The state has been TRANSFORMED as reported by oyinbo journalist in 2009.

For once, this has nothing to do with Buhari, and everything to do with the fact that the health and educaiton system in Nigeria's issues with funding , staff welfare and staffing levels.

Well, i fear for the future of nigeria. The media has failed us. They just report anything they like. I just wonder why truth is scarce in this world of ours.

For some it is failures.....

For others, it is either

1.Your school did not get accredited on time

2.You have finished pre-clincials.....but because there was a strike that happened on the hospital side that lasted for months ......you have to wait up to a year before you start clinicals. (And you have spent 4 years in preclincals instead of 3 because ASUU went on strike in your second year....and months were wasted.

3.And even when you cross over, you are delayed by more strikes, and more strikes. Today, NARD , tomorrow JOHESU, the day after ASUU . And then there are the local strikes.

(And here is one thing about strikes....sometimes the strikes happened long before you entered school...but because students were delayed during strikes....you get delayed too.)

4.And let's be frank....med schools are over-crowded. Poor library facilities, poor hostel facilities, etc....all combine to make it a bit difficult to study. A
