KABIRO Sokoto, the mastermind of 2011 Christmas Day bombing, is still in custody, the Nigerian Prisons Service said on Tuesday.

Biyi Jeje, NPS's spokesperson who was quoted by Premium Times reportedly dispelled the rumor.


“Please disregard the rumour. He’s still in prisons custody,” he said Tuesday afternoon, adding that “There’s no truth in it at all”


Kabiru Sokoto, was convicted in December 2013 after being found guilty of plotting the car suicide bombing on St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madalla, near Abuja.


The attack left about 40 people dead.


Various publications and blogs this week reported that Mr. Kabiru, 32, may have been released as part of a purported prisoners swap deal between the Nigerian government and Boko Haram sect.

now dis is getting suspicious. similar tin happen in 2015 immediately after dis govt was sworn in. remember d rumored secret transfer of top boko prisoners from north to southern prisons dat caused controversy with denials n counter denials by d govt wat if a similar tin was attempted on kabiru sokoto nobody can just sit down n concoc a story as specific about kabiru sokoto (a top boko terrorist dat almost escape in controvercial circumstances) out of d blue without a cause. there's no smoke without fire.
