By Modupe Gbadeyanka Part of the N230 million meant to pay pensioners in Kogi State, but diverted by some officials has been recovered by the state government. Kogi State Auditor-General, Mr Ahmed Ododo, informed AIT on Wednesday in an interview monitored by Business Post that the state government has so far got N25 million back from the alleged looters. According to him, another N12.7 million has been traced and recovered from the Albarka Cooperative Society. The money, he said, was meant for the College of Education Technical in Kabba. Mr Ododo disclosed that the N230 million was money meant for the payment of state pensioners, adding that the government was also making efforts to recover close to a billion Naira money meant to pay staff salaries and upgrade the structures at the College of Education Technical in Kabba. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to retrieving every fund stolen from the state’s purse. The state government, since coming into power on January 27, has made known its intention to recover all stolen funds from its treasuries. The government has lamented the high rate of diversion of public funds, saying it was one of the reasons it had over-bloated wage bill. It has severally assured citizens that it would recover every kobo and prosecute the culprits. http://www.businesspost.ng/2016/09/15/kogi-recovers-n25m-looted-n230m-pension-fund/
