I was reading the bible last time and verses in Genesis got me a little bit confused. It is said that the devil deceived eve. My question is, did the devil lie in all that he said? Below are the two bible verses

GENESIS 3:1-5: Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”

4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”


GENESIS 3:22: The LORD God said, "Since man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil, he must not reach out, take from the tree of life, eat, and live forever."

Yes he did
He wanted man to disobey God, hence the unsuspected deception. Furthermore let's analyse his lies in the said scripture...,,

1-You will not certainly die.......
Man was not meant to die either physically or spiritually but after the fall of man, God said man shall return to dust (physical death) and shall be cast to hell fire (spiritual death) if repentance wasn't achieved.

2-your eyes will be opened.....
Yes our eyes opened and innocence disappeared forever. It opened to think evil, commit sin, and be like the devil himself.

3-you will be like God
Lol, in what sense. God is almighty, all powerful and all knowing.
Yet we die as mere men today.

4-know good and evil.........
Who that one epp today. The flesh is weak even if your spirit is willing to do the right thing.

Satan lied all the way.

I have reasoned along your line too but for verse 20 to say man must not eat from the tree and live forever seems there is something in the tree that could have actually made them live forever.... To add to that, two cherubs were posted to guard the tree.

As for the other parts of "your eyes will be opened", know good and evil", be like God", i don't think verse 20 denied it in the context it was used

Note once agn, this curse is centered around child bearing

The devil told Eve the truth by letting her know that she'd "be like God knowing good and evil". God later confirmed and said " man has come to be like us knowing good and evil". Infact, God rather hid that truth from Adam and Eve by not telling them that they'll be like him but instead that they'll die. So he's as guilty as Satan.

I think we humans are just there believing we understand the Bible. We largely don't. Much of the Bible is not literally what it seems.

Even invoking holy spirit from here to Nagasaki will hardly change it. Instead let's just live a simple life devoid of hate & acrimony, be at peace with oneself & the world around us.
