As ive heard, most universities are practising this admission scam after fleecing candidates good sums.of money.Some.would go as far as even bribing admission office clerks to be squeezed.
This is our Nigeria and we have no other.Im supporting the Million march against higher institutions high handedness and madness come Oct 1. What about you? Abi you will keep singing " God will help us".
Please exclude pharmacy from that list of yours. Nobody who studied pharmacy would want to go back for medicine! What for? To limit himself in hospital when his mates are in the industry, community pharmacy etc and making it big?

Many of us knew that medicine was there when we chose pharmacy! In fact, I beat the cut off for medicine in my de exam but chose pharmacy instead.
As for the affected candidates, I will advise them not to settle for less. If medicine is what they love, they should fight on until they get it.
Some people are too ignorant in Nigeria , that is why they think that medicine is all there is.[/quote/]

I would ordinarily not have said anything,

But you made a valid point, why would anyone with a B.Pharm, Pharm.D want to go back to study MBBS?

I know i am doing better than my friends who studied Medicine..lol, i know the myriad of untapped opportunities available for me, still,

Please do not mind the guy, just focus on your studies and be the best.. The sky is your starting point, and

As Men of Honour...!!

I can see through your white lies dude! Long b4 I was born after pharmD of yesterday? OK oo!

I think our concern should be why most doctors now prefer to send their children to go and study pharmacy instead of medicine! I know many of such instances. What happened? Seems the pasture is now greener in pharmacy than medicine?

studying even mbbs in Nigeria doesn't guarantee happiness and satisfaction sister. What are we talking about? Even doctors are now struggling in the labor market in nigeria. I really understand how bleeped up the system is, and you think if one has a medical degree the person has escaped all that?

Well, only they know what they seek

it is only parochialism and myopism that will make somebody to take that decision. Nursing is also a professional course, they earn big too, why waste over 5 years of your life on what I think is not even worth it instead of try to a make a livelihood from the nursing job. Professional nurses even have more job opportunities than doctors. Check the statistics online and see for yourself.

Hell's kinda cool seeing as Nigeria is as good as hell, but for u seeing as u lack courtesy and manner of approach, what awaits u is worse than hell. Don't make the mistake of thinking hell is the height of damnation and punishment. Now run along and create ur local boring threads, local Benin boy.

I repeat... To hell with your sorry asss.

I was a victim of back then. I wanted Medicne but ended up doing the Botany course and liked it. There's a lot of unharnessed opportunities in the field. I've diversified into IT tho. I hate field work.
Please your comment looks misleading to me, if you liked the course why did you switch? What are the unharnessed opportunities you are talking about?
Am a Botany graduate who is about to make the U-turn you made because there is no job opportunity coming from the course but I am still on hot seat on the best decision to take, whether to further on MSc. in Botany or to start over again in Computer.
Professional advises will be appreciated from other readers, as I wait.

If you are working towards becoming a lecturer, then going for MSc in Botany is your best bet. Else, just forget it and do something that will enhance your value in the job market.

I switched because most of the jobs under my specialization in undergrad Botany were somehow outdoors.

Thanks for your response,
Do you have specialisation at undergraduate level?
What is the probability of securing a lecturing job if I go for Masters?

Yes, back in Unilag, we had 4 specialisation areas from the third year: Environmental Botany, EthnoBotany, Horticulture and Pure Botany.

If you intend to lecture, you'll need to go for a masters subsequently a PhD. There are jobs in lecturing in the department if you are good.

My brother, so you are now advising me to do Masters then PhD before looking for job, how will I get fund to reach PhD level when I am finding it difficult to secure a good job with this Botany degree?
