As of 4:25 am east coast time live...Hurricane Matthew has dropped to a category 2 ...What a relief.

Not everywhere, it's moving upwards now to Carolina. I heard in a forecast that the storm is coming back to florida by tomorrow evening or Monday.

Its really terrible in the Caribbean, over 800 dead and hundreds of houses/streets destroyed.

The hurricane is not that strong in the US.

We have stages;

After the storm, its going to take them about one year to investigate, inspect and estimate the damages.

To release fund will take about another one year.

After they release fund, it will take about 6months before they order, purchase and deliver the damaged equipments.

When the equipments are on ground/available, to fix and replace them will take another, i dont know*****

Names have been given to storms (or tropical cyclones) for at least the last 100 years. According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), it is easier for people to remember names than numbers and technical terms.

When reported by the media, this in turn makes it easier to generate interest in major storms and therefore increase how prepared people are for a major storm to hit.

In the beginning, storms were given arbitrary names. An Atlantic storm that ripped the mast off a boat named Antje became known as Antje's hurricane.

Then, in the mid-1900s, people started using female names for storms. Then, meteorologists decided to introduce a more organised and efficient system, taking names instead from a list arranged alphabetically.

The first storm to occur in a year would be assigned a name beginning with A, and so on. Before the end of the 1900s, forecasters used male names for storms forming in the southern hemisphere.

Since 1953, storms in the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico and the North Atlantic have been named from lists drawn up by the National Hurricane Center.

They are now maintained and updated by an international committee of the WMO. The original list featured only women's names and in 1979, men's names were introduced and now they alternate each year. Six lists are used in rotation, so the list for 2016 will be used again in 2022.

That Katrina is the deadliest, killed over a thousand in the US, 2005.

Yeah, but the Carribeans is a shìthole with a lot of shacks and shanties...The Hurricane is coming back to FL but much weaker and it's unlikely to go past the coast.

It was a live update so things could have gotten worse.

Millions will die God forbid. If people are asked to evacuate lagos, thats when you see some millions that will be saying 'na lie, nothing dey happen, i rebuke flood IJN, Amen.'

They will ignore the warnings until they are in close contact with the danger or until they see the flood coming and then it will be too late.

Some will say they cant leave their investments o, they cant abandon their houses, cars or business.

Check the attached picture, see the line, people are moving out of the city ordely and quietly. In some places, can you see the green grass that demarcates this highway, they would have formed another three invalid lines on it.

Lmao , i trust the yorubas sha , before they hear thunder sef dey don evacuate ..
