The National Judicial Council reacted to the raid by the DSS on the homes of some judges and their arrest late on Thursday night.

Read the full statement below:

THE POSITION OF THE NATIONAL JUDICIAL COUNCIL ON THE RECENT INVASION OF THE RESIDENCES AND ARREST OF JUDICIAL OFFICERS BY THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE SERVICES (DSS)

At its last Emergency Meeting which was held on 11th October, 2016, Council decided among other matters, as follows:

That the National Judicial Council is a creation, by virtue of Section 153 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, with its powers specified in Paragraph 21 of Part One of the Third Schedule whereof.

That by virtue of Section 160 of the 1999 Constitution, Council fashioned out:
Judicial Discipline Regulations;

ii) Revised NJC Guidelines and Procedural Rules for the Appointment of Judicial Officers of all Superior Courts of Record;

iii) Code of Conduct for Judicial Officers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; and
iv) National Judicial Policy
to inter-alia, regulate its own procedure while exercising its Constitutional Powers.

3. That Section 158 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, has unequivocally provided for the independence of the National Judicial Council vis-à-vis directing or controlling it by any authority or person while exercising its powers.

4. Reiterated its absolute confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari Administration and its unwavering determination to uphold the Principles of Democracy, Separation of Powers and the Rule of Law enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended and the United Nations Charter, which Nigeria is a Member.

5. That it shall continue to support the President Buhari Administration in its fight against corruption in all its ramifications in the Federation; and in cleansing the Judiciary of corrupt Judicial Officers.

6. However, expresses its grave concern on the recent invasion of the Residences and arrest of some serving and suspended Judicial Officers by the Department of State Services (“DSS”); and condemned the action in its entirety.

7. Viewed the action as a threat to the Independence of the Judiciary, which portends great danger to our democracy; and also considered the action as a clear attempt by the DSS to humiliate, intimidate, denigrate and cow the Judiciary.

BACKGROUND FACTS

8.1 RE: HON. JUSTICE SYLVESTER NGWUTA

The Public is aware that Hon. Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, was arrested after his House was invaded by heavily armed and masked operatives of the Department of States Security on Friday 7th October, 2016. The operatives did not leave his house until 12.00 noon of the following day, when he was whisked away to the (“DSS”) office.

8.2 RE: HON. JUSTICE INYANG OKORO

The Residence of Hon. Justice Inyang Okoro, a Justice of Supreme Court of Nigeria, was raided in the same manner and was arrested by the same operatives of the DSS.

Contrary to the claim by the DSS and as published in the electronic and print media, Council has never received any petition against the aforesaid Judicial Officers: Hon. Justices Ngwuta and Okoro of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, by the DSS.

8.3 RE: HON. JUSTICE MUHAMMED LADAN TSAMIYA OF THE COURT OF APPEAL

At its Meeting which was held on 29th September, 2016, Council had found His Lordship culpable of professional misconduct contrary to Code of Conduct for Judicial Officers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the provisions of Section 292 of 1999 Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria. Accordingly, he was recommended to Mr President for compulsory retirement from office following the petition written by one Mr Nnamdi Iro Oji for demanding the sum of N200,000,000.00 (Two Hundred Million Naira) bribe. It is to be stressed that from the evidence before the Council, Hon. Justice Ladan Tsamiya did not receive N200m bribe. The Petitioner adduced evidence to support his allegation that Hon. Justice Tsamiya only demanded for the money.

In the exercise of its power, Council had suspended Justice Tsamiya from office, pending when the President will act on the recommendation. And Mr. President has approved the recommendation of the Council and compulsorily retired His Lordship from office yesterday, the 12th day of October, 2016.

8.4. RE: HON. JUSTICE I. A. UMEZULIKE, OFR

Hon. Justice I. A. Umezulike, OFR, Chief Judge, Enugu State, was recommended for compulsory retirement from office to Enugu State Governor for gross misconduct, pursuant to the petition written against him by Mr. Peter Eze.

In the meantime, National Judicial Council has suspended His Lordship from office pending when the Governor of Enugu State will act on its recommendation.

8.5. RE: HON. JUSTICE A. F. A. ADEMOLA, OF THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT

Hon. Justice A. F. A. Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja Division has been petitioned by Hon. Jenkins Duviegiane Gwebe on allegations bordering on corrupt practices.
Currently, a Committee of the Council is investigating the allegations.
There is no other petition against Hon. Justice Ademola from DSS pending at the National Judicial Council.

8.6. RE: HON. JUSTICE KABIRU AUTA, KANO STATE HIGH COURT

Hon. Justice Kabiru Auta was investigated by Council based on allegations of corrupt practices levelled against him in a petition forwarded to Council by one Alhaji Kabiru Yakassai. His Lordship was recommended to the Governor of Kano State for removal from office by dismissal. Council wrote separately to the AIG Kano Zone 1, for Police to prosecute Hon. Justice Auta.

Council has suspended His Lordship from office pending when the Governor will act on its recommendation.

8.7 RE: HON. JUSTICE MUAZU PINDIGA OF HIGH COURT, GOMBE STATE

The DSS petitioned the Hon. Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Judicial Council alleging corrupt practices against Hon. Justice Pindiga, inter-alia:-

“i) That the Hon. Judge in a bid to illegally enrich himself, perfected plans through third party proxies/conduits, with a view to influencing the outcome of the Election Tribunal in the governorship polls in favour of the incumbent Governor Nyesom Wike.

ii) That further ongoing discreet investigation, Justice Pindiga is observed to have illegally enriched himself through corrupt means. Part of the illegitimate proceeds suspected to have accrued to Pindiga includes the underlisted:
a) Two (2) completed blocks of six (6) units 2 bedroom flats in Federal Low Cost Estate in Gombe metropolis;
b) Four (4) units of bungalow in another part of the Estate;
c) An uncompleted property at GRA in Gombe Metropolis;
d) a Mercedes Benz C300 car in the name of MUBAJJAL;
e) A Toyota Venza-Model SUV.

iii) From all indications, it is apparent that Pindiga, who is a very Senior Justice in Gombe State, is highly corrupt. His continuous stay as a Justice in any capacity would likely embarrass the current administration and pervert the cause of justice. In view of the foregoing, it is strongly advised that immediate necessary administrative and judicial measures be taken on him, including appropriate sanctions and trial to set a precedent to others of his like”.

The complaint containing the allegations of corrupt practices against the Hon. Judge were conveyed in a letter Ref No. DGSS71/3161 and dated 26th February, 2016, written by the DSS to the Hon. Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Judicial Council. The petition was not supported by a verifying affidavit deposed to by the DSS, as required by the National Judicial Council Discipline Regulations 2014. The Petition should have been disregarded for non-compliance with the National Judicial Council Regulations, but by letter Ref. No. NJC/S.15/HC.GM/5/1/128 dated 19th April, 2016, the DSS was notified and requested to comply and to depose to a verifying affidavit in support of the allegations of corrupt practices levelled against the Hon. Judge.
By letter Ref No. LSD.232/4/68 dated 6th May, 2016, to the Council, the DSS deposed to a verifying affidavit in respect of the allegations against Justice Pindiga.

On the directive of the Council, Hon. Justice Mu’azu Pindiga responded to the allegations against him by DSS. Thereafter, a Committee comprising Members of the Council investigated the allegations of corrupt practices.

Both Parties – The DSS and Hon. Justice Mu’azu Pindiga, together with their witnesses and counsel appeared before the Panel set up by Council in compliance with the National Judicial Discipline Regulations and Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, on the Right to Fair Hearing.

The DSS was represented by a Director, S. U. Gambo, Esq. who is also a Legal Practitioner in the Department and Hon Justice Pindiga was represented by Joe Agi, SAN.

At the end of the investigation, the DSS could not substantiate any of the allegations of corrupt practices either by documentary or oral evidence against the Hon. Justice Pindiga.

Consequently, at its Meeting of 15th July, 2016, Council decided to exonerate Hon. Justice Pindiga of the allegations of corrupt practices levelled against him by DSS.

The Council’s decision was conveyed to Hon. Justice Pindiga in a letter Ref. No. NJC/HC.GM/5/1/132 of 9th August, 2016 and copied the DSS.

8.8. RE: HON. JUSTICE NNAMDI DIMGBA OF FEDERAL HIGH COURT ABUJA DIVISION
Council is aware that DSS had written a complaint alleging corrupt practices and professional misconduct against Hon. Justice Dimgba by a letter Ref. No. LSD.158/2/31 dated 5th August, 2016.

At its Meeting of 29th September, 2016, Council constituted a Fact Finding Committee comprising its Members to investigate the allegation.

During the last Emergency Meeting of the Council, it received a Report from Hon. Justice Nnamdi Dimgba that his Residence was also raided and ransacked; and in the process, his nephew and driver were man-handled, using a wrong search warrant which was not meant for the search of his house.
The Committee has commenced the process of investigating the allegations before the recent unfortunate raid and search of Hon. Justice Dimgba’s Residence.

9. Council meticulously considered the entire unfolding events that led to the arrest of the Judicial Officers and the misinformation and disinformation making rounds in both Electronic and Print Media that the DSS acted thus because the National Judicial Council was shielding the Judicial Officers from investigation and prosecution for corrupt practices and professional misconduct.

10. Council noted particularly, that from the available records, the DSS forwarded only two(2 no.) separate complaints containing allegations of Corrupt Practices against Hon. Justice Pindiga; and corrupt practices and professional misconduct against Hon. Justice Dimgba.

11. The impression created and widely circulated before the public, that the DSS forwarded a number of petitions containing various allegations of corrupt practices and professional misconduct against some Judicial Officers to the Council, and they were not investigated, is not correct. The Council urges the DSS to make public the particulars of such petitions to put the records straight.

12. Given the above background facts, on behalf of the Judiciary, Council is constrained to inform the general public that all petitions and complaints forwarded against Judicial Officers bordering on corrupt practices and professional misconduct, have been attended to and investigated, where applicable, by Council since year 2000 to date, within the powers conferred on it by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

13. Therefore, any Judicial Officer that was reprimanded by Council or recommended for removal from office by compulsory retirement or dismissal to the President or Governor, was done in compliance with the Constitutional power, Rule of Law and Due Process.

14. From year 2000, when the National Judicial Council held its inaugural Meeting to 2016, 1808 petitions and complaints against Judicial Officers, including Chief Justices of Nigeria, Justices of Supreme Court and Court of Appeal were received by the respective Honourable, the Chief Justices of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Judicial Council. Eighty-two (82 No.) of the Judicial Officers were reprimanded (suspension, caution or warning), by Council, in the exercise of its exclusive Constitutional Disciplinary power over Judicial Officers.

Thirty-eight (38 No.) of the Judicial Officers were recommended to the President or Governor where applicable, for compulsory retirement from office; while twelve (12 No.) were recommended to the President or Governor as the case may be, for dismissal from office.

In conclusion, Council wishes to state as follows:-

That it maintains its earlier decision that no Judicial Officer shall be invited by any Institution including the DSS, without complying with the Rule of Law and Due Process. That explains why when the DSS wrote to the Council by letter Ref. No. LSC.960/4 dated 14th September, 2016, to direct Hon. Justice Mu’azu Pindiga to appear before it, The Hon. The Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Judicial Council directed the Hon. Chief Judge of Gombe State to ask Hon. Justice Mu’azu Pindiga to report to DSS, which His Lordship did.

That the National Judicial Council has never shielded nor will it shield any Judicial Officer who has committed any misconduct.

3) That the Department of State Services is an Agency in the Presidency and its functions as specified in the statute establishing it, is primarily concerned with the internal security of the Country.

4) That the action of the DSS is a denigration of the entire Judiciary, as an institution.

5) That by the act of the DSS, Judicial Officers are now being subjected to insecurity, as criminals might take advantage of the recent incidents to invade their residences under the guise of being security agents.

6) The Council vehemently denounces a situation whereby the Psyche of Judicial Officers in the Federation is subjected to a level where they would be afraid to discharge their Constitutional judicial functions, without fear or favour, intimidation, victimization or suppression.

7) The Council will not compromise the integrity and impartiality of the Judiciary.

cool The Council wishes to reassure the public that any person who has a genuine complaint against any Judicial Officer is at liberty to bring it up to the Council for consideration, after following due process vide its Judicial Discipline Regulations.

9) At the end of the Meeting, Council unanimously agreed to recommend Hon. Justice W. S. N. Onnoghen, CFR, as the most senior, suitable and competent Justice of the Supreme Court to President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, for appointment as the next Chief Justice of Nigeria to succeed Hon. Justice Mahmud Mohammed GCON who retires from office on 10th November, 2016.

The NJC should go and sit down. They let themselves down and brought upon themselves the disgrace they are currently going through. The question that boggles the mind about the Nigerian judiciary is that despite that it is common knowledge that the judiciary is one of the most corrupt in the world, no judge has ever been jailed in Nigeria's history. All the NJC has been doing with regards to the discipline of corrupt judges, is to sack them. But the culpable judges go and enjoy their proceeds of corruption and move about freely. Is that the kind of adjudication they as judges give to common men? Are judges any more human than the rest of us? One thing is certain, after this whole debacle the Nigerian judicial system will never remain the same.

The NJC is a big stumbling block to our progress as a nation. A nation where ordinary citizens are sentenced to at least 10years imprisonment for stealing phones worth less than #10k yet a judge is merely suspended and retired for selling justice to the tune of billions of Naira. What nonsense is that?
What kind of nation are we if the conscience of the nation is as dark as night. Where the last hope of the common man is up for sale to the highest bidder. It is a big shame to this group of highly educated ignoble ignoramuses. Shame on them.
God bless Buhari as he continues to wage war against this evil behemoth called corruption that has stiffled the the collective destiny of the black race and have made us a laughing stock to the rest of the world.

They are the most useless set of miscreants i have ever seen.

How come no "sting operation" was carried out against that useless Okon Abang, who is obviously super corrupt?
How come no "sting operation" has been carried out against Dogara despite all the hard allegations by Jibrin. Rather Jibrin has been kicked out amidst deafening silence by the President?

Kudos anyways to the DSS for entertaining our hopeless zombies once again. Keep the miscreants masturbating grin

Shameless, ultra corrupt lying judges.

Imagine recommending an indicted judge for retirement having been found guilty of corrupt practices! Why not recommend him for prosecution?

Imagine asking a judge to refund bribe to the victim of his greed? Why not send him to jail instead of that laughable recommendation?

May all those supporting these judges fall victim of their corruption in an unimaginable way very soon. Amen.

THE JUDGES' ABDUCTION AND THE PUERILE LIES FROM THE DSS:

Regardless of your political affiliation, if you have any stake in the country called Nigeria, last Friday night's abduction of Judges of the High Court, Appeal Court and Supreme Court by Operatives of the Nigeria Secret Police known as the DSS over allegation of corruption should give every Nigerian a cause for concern.

The barbaric manner the whole operation was conducted suggests that rather than an attempt to cleanse the judiciary of corrupt Judges, it was a clear case of vendetta by the Muhammadu Buhari-led executive arm of the government against another independent arm.

A betting man would bet that this is nothing but a ploy to get back at some judges who have given unfavourable judgements against the APC like in the elections petition cases, the DSS as in the case of Nnamdi Kanu where Justice Ademola ordered the DSS to release the IPOB leader unconditionally and the Executive arm of government in general like the ongoing corruption cases where judges have refused to do Buhari's bidding of jailing suspects even without enough evidence.

Personally, I am not even pained by the actual act of breaking the doors to the houses of sitting Judges and abducting them in the middle of the night as much as I am pained by the moronic, imbecilic, idiotic and puerile defense put up by the DSS as justification for their action.

If the DSS guys had not insulted our intelligence further with that trash they released in the name of press statement to justify their action, I would have just taken this as just another of Mr Buhari's tyranny.

But no, the DSS had to prove they actually think our brains are all in recession by releasing that bundle of badly constructed, terribly packaged puerile lies known as press statement.

Let's look at the so called defense put up by the DSS:

First, they said it was a sting operation, yet, thesame DSS claimed the affected Judges have been previously invited to their offices and questioned.

I am putting it to the DSS that it is either they do not know the meaning of a sting operation or they think we, Nigerians, do not know the meaning.

For avoidance of doubt, a sting operation is a deceptive operation aimed at catching a person in the act of committing a crime. It usually involve a law enforcement officer or a cooperative member of the public posing as a criminal partner or a potential victim to the targeted 'suspect' with a view to encouraging the target to go on with the criminal act so he could be caught in a red-handed position committing the crime.

This method is commonly used by the FBI with recorded audio and video evidence of the said target committing the said crime.

There are two things we need to take out here: One is that it is designed primarily to catch the target in the act of committing the said crime with more than enough audio and video evidence such that even if you were to allow the suspect try himself as the judge, he will have no choice but to convict himself due to the volume of watertight evidence at your disposal.

And two, the targets are never aware that they are even under investigation. If you tip the target off by inviting him for questioning before or in the middle of the sting operation, you will have defeated the purpose of the operation as such a target will now take extra measures to cover his track having known you are now on his trail.

From the above, it can be deduced that it is either the DSS were lying to themselves or they were lying to us. Either way, they were not being honest when they claimed the illegal arrest of the Judges was part of a sting operation and still claimed the judges had been previously invited for questioning in their offices.

Does it not strike anyone as odd that the DSS claimed to have surveilled those judges for months, yet, they ended up raiding the wrong house and beating up an innocent man before realising the warrant they had was for another house??

Also in that press statement, the DSS claimed that the unnamed Portharcourt Judge had $2million in his house even when they clearly stated that the River state governor, Nyesom Wike and his group prevented them (the DSS) from gaining access to the Judge's house and later moved the money.

You are the DSS. You came to Portharcourt to arrest a judge in a Gestapo style at an ungodly hour. The governor being the chief security officer of the state mobilized people and stopped you from carrying out your roguery. You were denied access to the Judge's house. Yet, somehow, you still knew the judge had $2m in his house which was later moved by the governor and "a sister agency" (the police) according to you. This is the 8th wonder of the world!

How did the DSS manage to count the money to know it was $2m since they were prevented from entering the house??

Quite frankly, this would be fantastically funny if it wasn't such a crying shame.

It takes a man whose brain has been in recession from birth to believe these puerile lies from the DSS.

Since the DSS which is statutorily in charge of crimes and actions bothering on national security has become the EFCC responsible for corruption cases, when is the agency moving against President Buhari's chief of staff; Abba Kyari who allegedly collected N500million bribe to help MTN reduce their fine??

When will the DSS conduct another sting operation against the SGF who used 270million just to cut grasses growing around hunger-ravaged malnourished IDPs?? Or has the DSS not heard those cases?

No amount of sophistry will obliterate the fact that the action of the DSS is criminal. You don't invade people's homes in the middle of the night, break their doors as though you were a criminal gang, subject their innocent wives and children to emotional trauma before abducting them only to start bandying around outrageous and mind-blowing figures as the amount you recovered from the criminal operation and expect Nigerians to roll out the drum for you. You cannot break one law to enforce another law.

You cannot knowingly break the law and hope that mentioning earthquakic figures will blind us to your thuggery. It doesn't work that way.

Luckily for me, I don't even have a door. So if they come to abduct me, they won't see any door to break neither will they see any brother to manhandle.

Democracy is all about procedures. There are laid down Procedures in handling cases of corruption cases involving Judges.

The judiciary is an independent arm of govt. As the DSS, you are a branch of the Executive. If you have a case against any judge, you petition the NJC.

It is the NJC that will look into the matter and if it deems your case credible enough, it will retire that judge compulsorily and recommend him/her for prosecution. That is only when you the DSS or the police can institute criminal proceedings against the said Judge.

The biggest tragedy in all of these is hearing some so called youths utter garbage like, "what is a judge doing with $2m in his house?"

Those mentally slow intellectually malnourished simpletons have not seen any $2million ooo. They just heard the DSS say it and that is all.

No proof that any money was even recovered and was actually recovered from those judges. All we have is the word of the DSS and nothing more. Yet, those intellectually kwashiorkored youths are already jumping up and down calling for the heads of those Judges.

These are the same gullible lots who believed 90million pounds was recovered from Diezani Allison Madueke, Billions of naira recovered from a soakaway pit in the house of one service chief, another billions recovered from ex governors in Dubai and yet another billions upon billions of naira recovered from looters but before the eyes of these gullible youths, thesame govt that claimed to have recovered all these monies is now crying that the country is broke.

How gullible can some people be??

This govt knows we have so many gullible youths who would swallow anything hook, line and sinker as long as they hear "corruption" and "billions" or "trillions". So after hearing the condemnation that trailed their action, the DSS quickly went to their coven and came back with their normal line of, "We recovered so so and so billions of naira and millions of dollars in the houses of these judges".

Supposedly well lettered adults want me to believe that learned Justices of the highest court in the land would be so dumb to collect bribe from politicians in hard currencies and still leave those monies in their houses even when they were supposed to know the DSS was on their trail having previously invited them for questioning as claimed by the Agency.

Honestly, some people need to have their certificates withdrawn and the awarding institutions sanctioned.

While you are celebrating this idiocy, just pause and ask yourself: If Justices of the Supreme Court can be humiliated in this manner by the DSS just on mere suspicion, what kind of treatment do you think you, an ordinary man will get from thesame DSS??

Just so we are clear, no one is saying there is no corruption in the judiciary or that corrupt judges should not be prosecuted. All I am saying is that this particular operation by the DSS doesn't seem like an operation against corrupt Judges.

The Buhari administration should stop trying to fool us with the sham that is the anti-graft war. When this government wants to fight corruption, we will know. For now, I have enormous reasons to believe justifiably that this government is still aiding and abetting corruption by friends, families and close associates of president Buhari.

Who released ex-governor Timipre Sylva's 148 houses to him after withdrawing all corruption cases against him simply because he donated generously to Buhari's Presidential campaign?? Who defended General Buratai after SaharaReporters exposed his Dubai properties??

Who aided and abetted stint illegal recruitments into CBN, FIRS etc?? Who is protecting Justice Okon Abang??

C'mmon, we are no fools! When this hurricane that is the Buhari-led APC government wants to fight corruption, we will know. For now, he is doing a great job destroying all the critical institutions upon which Democracy has been built.

Gradually, Buhari is making Tyrants like Idi Amin, Adolf Hitler and others look like saints. Even Stalin's Russia wasn't this bad!!!

The legislature has since been bullied into submission. Now it is the turn of the Judiciary. Perhaps, when he is done destroying the two arms of government that are supposed to checkmate his tyranny, he will now proceed to running the country like a full-blown dictatorship.

I have said it before and it bears repeating now, the glory of democracy is fading away with the unpopular policies of Muhammadu Buhari as the President of Nigeria. People are dying of sufferings and miseries, and God Almighty would judge you and I for continue to pretend about the pains Nigerians are cruelly undergoing.

Argue all you want, lie to yourself if it makes you feel better, call me prophet of doom if that will help cure the economic recession just like your mental recession, but the truth remains that, this country will never survive Buhari's 4 year tenure if we continue on the part of self-destruct by refusing to insist on quality Democratic Tenets and Dividends and speaking truth to our government.

This is less than 2years of this administration but all we have achieved is sinking sands of Recession.

Ask yourself, if it is this bad when we have not even reached half of his 4 year term, how will it be by the time we get to 2019?

Perhaps by the end of Buhari's 4 year term in 2019, if we all don't die of hunger before then, we might be too weak trying to afford one 'unsquare' meal a day that we won't even have the strength to ask Buhari to respect our laws.

May God Almighty continue to Bless Nigeria and may Buhari take corrections so that we can succeed as a Nation.

Patriotism is the act of voting in a Government and helping it to succeed by holding it accountable for the Security and Welfare of the State; that is what I am purposed to serve. May Buhari Succeed Rightfully.

Sensationalist title. NJC should be ashamed of what they have written here. They admitted that almost all the judges arrested are corrupt, and they have now decided that some of them be suspended.
1. Why did you have to wait for DSS to arrest them before you come out publicly to denounce corrupt judges?
2. DSS sent a petition in February, and you're replying in April asking for Sworn affidavit?? Trying to dribble the country while shielding your corrupt members?
Out of over 1000 petitions, you have only recommended 18 judges for prosecution? Less than 1%.

This was your response to me yesterday when I faulted those search warrants.

PassingShot:

As a head up, don't you think if there was no search warrant in place, the Judiciary will have seized on that flaw to attack the DSS/Executive? Wouldn't that have become the only valid ground by all and sundry to condemn DSS/Executive?

Since Tuesday, the NJC has been meeting on what steps to take but have not been able to arrive at a conclusion. If there was no search warrant or if any law had been trampled upon, surely the body would have capitalized on it.

Perhaps your response came prematurely because from what I could see up there, you are now blasting them for negating the claims of the DSS that you so much believe in. Was that what you had in mind while claim the NJC had no grounds yesterday?

Your prayers have no roots for the single reason that you are confused on your stand yourself. You asked for a rebuttal from the NJC to prove their rightness. Now you have one, you're wishing it never happened.

Bros, the people you are defending act without deep thought, planning and verification. That's why they always end up messing themselves up. If you were expecting the judiciary to neglect the very laws they live for, you have been misled by the many violent and thoughtless misdemeanors of this government and, then you should start planning a coup for military dictatorship. That os where your ilks have roots. As for a common sense democratic government, this commando executive has no place there.

Separation of power and rule of law are basics by wish democracy are measured. This government lacks the willingness to follow that .

Did those molten grumpy old judges think of that when they were dishing out judgements to the highest bidders? Oloshi!

I read the press release verbatim and I fully support the NJC on this.

I have said it and I will keep shouting it that we should not fold our hands and watch the APC FG led government turn Nigeria into that of Germany in Hitler era. This is how it started. gradually and steady, putting fear into supposed enemies, undermining rules and law and grabbing and withholding powers to himself.

Before it is too late, Senate should call Buhari, and all executive apparatus to order or we will go down one after another. Hitler did it in Germany with his handpicked evil secret police and terrorised opponents. A time came, the whole nation was subdued and started dancing to his mad songs. He led Germany into a costly war and the whole Germans paid dearly for their silence.

Corruption fight should not be used as an undertone to silence perceived enemies. Different institutions of government are there to act as check and balance to other. When one of the institutions hijack the other powers, we are then in autocratic rule and no more democracy.

Don't mention me to spew rubbish plz.

sensible response is appreciated

This is NJC washing d dirty linens of their judges in public admiting they are corrupt,bt jst to save face.
Bt d wailers were busy taking side with d judges that they weren't corrupt bt jst an intimidation frm DSS
many of such judges and SANs stil countless in NJC

Your English comprehension is sick. NJC in a communique said " we will help Buhari's administration to fight corruption, and fish out bad elements in judiciary". If you say Judiciary is corrupt, what of executive that padded 2016 budget, alongside with legislative.

Council had found His Lordship culpable of professional misconduct contrary to Code of Conduct for Judicial Officers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the provisions of Section 292 of 1999 Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Did anyone see that? Useless NJC. Is asking for bribe not a crime?
