"Stay with me don't go...." Alan pleaded. "It is sunday night Alan, I've got to get to the library early tomorrow and again I can't wear the same cloth that I wore on saturday." She said. "But you just bought new clothes which is here, you can wear it and then I'll drop you at the library and come to take you home." He said as he moved towards her. "Don't! Don't you dare move. I won't be able to think if you touch me. Ok....I've got new clothes with me here, new shoes and even new makeups...." She said as she pushed her glasses to her nose. "Good so it's settled." Alan stated as he began to remove her glasses and clothes. "No it isn't settled fully." She said with her voice getting thick with desire. "Yes it has been settled" and carried her towards the bed kissing her along the way.

"Clara?!" Miss briggs said surprised with what she was seeing. This Clara is way different from the one she saw on friday, or wasn't it friday she still wore a dark grey skirt and blouse? The ugly duckling has turned into a beautiful swan. "Good morning miss briggs....oh sorry anna." Clara said smiling up at anna. "Wha-what happened to your...." "My drab dressing?" She grinned. Clara was wearing a white sheer top with an orange skirt with her hair down but she was still using her tortoise shell glasses with some light make up. "Anyways, I went shopping on saturday at the city to change my wardrobe, I'm still contemplating on going for contact lenses or smaller glasses." She chattered. Anna smiled and said "it's about time you gave yourself a make over, you're beautiful and I'm sure all the eligible boys in the town will be having one excuse or the other to speak to you, Alan sure would wanna hit many boys." They laughed and got back to work, opening the library for business. On her lunch break, Clara went to the near by coffee shop to get lunch since she didn't bring lunch with her. As she entered and walked to the counter, all eyes were on her. Bibi the owner of the coffee shop was the one at the counter she looked up and smiled at Clara "why, Clara you're looking pretty that's good". "Thank you Bibi, I want a bag of bagel and some coffe to go." "Ok. Right on it." "Hello, I haven't seen you around here, are you visiting?" A young man said as he walked up to where she stood. Clara laughed and said "I've been in this town for months!" "Oh really? Then why haven't I seen you around?" "Well, I'm the town's new librarian I'm sure you have heard about me." She said as she continued laughing. "But-but-but I thought I heard people saying that you are an old-maid who wears granny clothes....." He frowned. "Yes I was but now I'm not." "Anyways, the name is Bill, Bill walkerman. Yea I know the name of the mayor is walkerman, I'm the old man's son" he said with pride and arrogance. "Nice talking to you Bill, but I gotta get going." Clara said as she paid and collected her order.
By evening, everybody had known that the dowdy librarian had turned into a beauty. People use excuses to come to the library to take a look at her transformation and talk to her. Clara and Anna had to usher them out when it was time for closing. "Whew! That was hectic. People that hasn't stepped foot in this library ever in their lives showed up today. Isn't that funny or what?" Anna said as she laughed hard. "I think all of the town has paid a visit today just because of curiousity. Even the mayor and the sheriff came." Clara said as she locked the doors. "There hasn't been so much excitement and ruckus in the town since bob jetter released all his rottwilers on the last sheriff last year and it has been dull after that." Anna said. Alan drove up to them and got down from his car. "Hi anna" he said as he walked up to Clara and kissed her "hey beautiful". Anna laughed and said goodnight to the both of them then left them. "Hey yourself" clara answered. "I heard you guys had some excitement today. You being the focus of attention." "Yea word gets around here faster than a wide-spread fire. It's alarming and amusing." Alan laughed it sure is. They got into the car and off they went to Clara's house. On their way, Alan's phone rang and he checked the name "it's mother" then he put it on loud speaker since he was driving. "Hey mum, how are you?" "I'm fine baby. Are you coming for dinner tonight?" Alan looked at clara hungrily and said "no mother,I've got plans." "Plans? Oh ok. So, do you hear what is going on today? I've had like three of my friends who came to tell me about the new librarian and her new look. They said she was an old maid but now she is a beauty. Do you see her the day I sent you to the library?" His mom chattered. "Calm down mother, Clara wasn't an old maid before she just didn't care what she wore." "Oh why are you speaking like you know her intimately? Are you dating her?" She asked. Clara sat and just stared at the phone with fear and amusement missed together. "Yes mum I'm dating her" he grinned at Clara as she glared at him. "Alan John Kevlar!!" She shouted on the phone. "You're dating a responsible woman for once in your life and you couldn't tell me or bring her for me to meet her?" Clara was wide-eyed with surprise and looked at Alan who smiled at her. "I'm sorry mother I'll bring her to the house this weekend" "Good! Oh your dad says hi. Take care baby and don't be late when you bring her. Bye son." "Ok mother bye". He hanged up the call and Clara said "I don't think I can follow you to see your family they will eat me alive!" She pouted. "Come on Clara we've been over this before, they'll love you for what you are" Alan answered. "We'll see if they will." "They will." He stressed as he used his hands to rub her knee. They got to Clara's house and went in. "What do you have in the house, I'm famished!" "You are always hungry." "Oh yea?" He asked as he grabbed her waist and pulled her to him. "I'm always hungry for you" he said and kissed her hard.
It was late in the night when Alan got up from Clara's bed and wore his clothes. "You didn't get to serve me food so I'm leaving, I've got an early meeting to attend tomorrow or else I won't get out of that bed."He said and kissed her forehead then he took his leave. Clara sighed contently and slept with a smile on her face.
Saturday morning came bright and early. Alan and Clara set out to go to Alan's family home, Clara was quiet through out the drive even when Alan was trying to re-assure her. They got to their destination and Clara tried straightening her yellow sundress. The door was opened by james the old butler "Good morning sir Alan, ma'am" he greeted and led them to the sun room. Mary kevlar bustled in and went straight to Clara with a big smile on her face and hugged her, "welcome!. How are you? Clara right? It so good to finally meet you. Isn't she pretty kelvin?" She asked her husband as he came in to the room, "yea she is." Alan's father boomed and hugged Clara with smile on his face. He looks like his father ,Clara wondered. If you want to know how Alan would be in old age he would look like this, still handsome and tall with grace. She looked at Alan and they smiled at each other, then she face his parents and said " hi Mr and Mrs Kevlar, it is nice to finally meet both of you." "Pooh, call us mary and kelvin you make us feel old when you call us mr and mrs kevlar." They all sat down and mary said "I know you aunt, she was a good woman, bless her soul". A maid brought in some refreshment and left. They talked for a while when Alan's sister Natalia came in. She took a seat beside her parents and smiled at Clara. "Hi, I've seen you around and you are the talk of the town. I've been meaning to come to the library and say hi but I've been busy with work and my son." Clara smiled at her and said to her "it's a pleasure to meet you. Alan has told me about you and you are nice" "really? I'm nice? I would like us to be friends and get together sometimes." Natalia said to Clara and Clara nodded her head and said "to be sincere, I was scared to come before because I thought I wouldn't be liked but I was shocked that you all took me in with kindness." They all looked at her and Alan's father kelvin laughed and went to give Clara a bone-crushing hug "we're not monsters there is no reason to be scared." "I see that now sir" she answered and smiled up at Alan who smiled back. "Alan, Did your brother talk to you?" His mother asked . "Yes he did he said he would be home for labour day and would stay until after the anniversary." Alan answered. They talked for a while and before they knew, it was time for lunch.

*chapter 11*
The town had been decorated with ribbons and celebration everywhere with smiles and laughter all around because it was labour day. Clara and Alan got to the kevlar mansion in time for the annual picnic. Hugs and kisses were exchanged and Clara was introduced to Alan's brother james who looked like all the kevlar men but he looked menancing than Alan. Clara and James greeted each other then Clara was taken away by Alan to get a seat before it was fully occupied. In a corner, Alan's father was handling the grill with some of his friends, he waved and grinned at their direction. "Let me go and see if father needs some help with the grilling I won't be long" Alan said then he left her. Natalia was chasing her two years old son about when she saw Clara sitting all alone. She carried Tommy and went to sit beside Clara, "hey you,enjoying yourself?" "Oh hi Natalia, yes I am, is this your son? He is so cute" Clara said as she made baby noises at Tommy. "Yes,this little tyrant here is Tommy.Tommy say hello to Clara." Tommy smiled and said hello. He got down from his mother's lap and moved to Clara,"up up". Clara carried him up and bounced him about which made him laugh loud. Alan looked at Clara and saw her playing with Tommy and he smiled affectionately then he imagined Clara getting pregnant with his baby and realised that he has fallen deeply in love with Clara. He was shocked at first then when it settled deep in his mind he saw that he couldn't live without her. "Great just great!." He mumbled to himself. He walked over to where they sat and sat down smiling at them. "Hey big brother." "Hey small sister." He grinned at her then Tommy saw Alan and grinned at Alan "hey tommy boy, I see you are comfortable where you are and don't want to jump at me." Alan said as he put his arms at the back of Clara's chair. He looked at Clara and said "are you supposed to be cuddling another man when your man is here leaving him on his own uhn? Tommy boy you need to go to your mother so that my woman can cuddle me too you're poaching." Clara and Natalia laughed with Natalia saying "tommy come to mama and leave these two love-birds alone." "Nooo clawa clawa" tommy cried out. Clara laughed and kissed tommy in the cheek. "You see? He doesn't want to leave my woman." Alan feigned anger "hey tommy boy if you don't leave my woman alone,I won't buy you that toy train you wanted." Tommy ignored his uncle Alan knowing that his uncle was joking and snuggled deep in Clara's arms. "Hey leave the dear boy alone,I like him where he is" Clara said to Alan. "Since tommy is comfortable, I'll leave him with you Clara and go and assist mother even though I know she won't need any help." Natalia winked at them and left the table to where her mother was. "They look good together don't they?" Mary kevlar asked Natalia as they watched Clara and Alan play with Tommy. Mary wiped a tear in her eye as she watched them and wished for them to get married quickly so that they would give her more grandchildren. Her plans were already yielding results but she needed them to speed it up. Clara watched Alan as he played with his nephew and wished to carry his baby in her arms. She shook her head to clear the thinking and said to herself 'Don't spoil it Clara, you don't know where this is going so don't yet wish for things that won't happen'. "Awwn he is asleep" Clara said a while later as they were eating, Alan looked at Tommy as he slept peacefully in Clara's arms and said "he sure looks comfy why don't you let me take him in so that you won't stress your arms." "Why don't we go together,I'll carry him while you show me the way". They both went into the house with Clara carrying Tommy, they stopped at the nursery and Clara placed tommy inside the crib and dropped a kiss on his fore-head as she turned to face Alan,She was stopped by a kiss from Alan "why did you kiss me? I'm nt complaining I'm just curious" she asked. "You amaze me that's why" she blushed and she kissed him again. "Let's get going or else we won't get out of this room". As they got outside Natalia came to them "where is tommy?" "He fell asleep and we took him to the nursery" Alan answered. "Oh thank you guys let me go and check on him". Mary waved Clara and Alan over and said "since you both are not doing anything come and assist in replenishing all the foods that is almost finished. They got to work and didn't rest until they finished their tasks. They joined the rest of the people in the festivities and danced together till they dropped.
"Today was fun,thank you Alan for taking me with you." Clara said as Alan dropped her at her house. "Who else would I take if not you?" He grinned at her. "Aren't you coming in?" "Oh I'll be back I just have to go back to see to help with the cleaning" "oh ok I've given you a key haven't I?" "Yea you have, don't worry Clara I won't be long" then he kissed her and left. When he came back, he saw that she was already asleep and smiled fondly at her. He pulled off his clothes and got into the bed beside her, Clara opened her eyes and smiled at him before they knew it, they were panting to get their breathes back and their hearts in the normal pace. They slept deeply with their body joined together.
Clara was planning the schedule of the book club when Gina came into the library with her pocket-sized dog wearing a short blue dress with jewelries adorning her hands and neck. "So, this is the so called make-over that happened" gina crooned. "Hello Gina how can I help you? Even though I know you don't want to read any book" Clara shot back at her. Gina narrowed her eyes and said "I still don't get why you are following Alan like a lost puppy dog when vividly he wants nothing to do with you but to have sex with you" Clara winced knowing that she hit a mark but she recovered and stuck up her chin "it is me he is having sex with not you, which is score 1 for me and 0 for you. Admit it you want him but he doesn't want you so please go and wallow in your tears another place". Gina bared her teeth and huffed out of the library. Clara dropped her head on the desk and started thinking about what Gina said "oh what if all she said is true? What if Alan wants me for sex only? I can't take this I just can't! She just can't barge in here and start making me feel bad." "Oh Clara what are we going to do?" She asked herself with glint of tears in her eyes.

"Hey Clara we're getting late". Alan shouted to Clara in the bathroom as he re-made his tie. "I'm sorry I just have to put the contact lenses right" she answered as she came out of the bathroom. "Wow! You're looking hot. If not that we're expected in the next minute, I would have had you flat out on your back like right now." Alan said as he looked at Clara hungrily in her sea-green cocktail dress. "I knew that dress would be a bomb now all it reamins to complete this fabulous dressing is this." He said as he took out the pearl necklace and clasped it on her neck. Clara gasped "it's too much Alan, I might lost it. It even has matching earrings to go with it!. Oh now I'll have to walk carefully not to let it get lost" Alan laughed hard and kissed her fully on the mouth. "Don't fret Clara you can't lost it and even if you do it's insured" she sighed "thank you, let's get going". They got to the house to see that the anniversary party is already in full swing. The ball room was already filled with people in their best dresses and champagne with caviar going around. They went to greet the happy couple "hey mother,you're looking beautiful tonight" Alan greeted as he kissed his mother on the cheek then he moved to his father to give him a big hug "happy anniversary" "thank you son" his father replied as he smiled from ear to ear. Clara to hugged the couple and got hugged in return. "We're glad you're here Clara" Mary said. Alan and Clara went to mingle with the rest of the guests ,they danced when they mood strikes and drank champagne when they feel like. "You know you're the most beautiful woman here tonight don't you?" Alan whispered into Clara's ear as they danced to a slow music. "Don't patronise me Alan, I know I'm pretty but there are way much beautiful women here" "well, in my eyes you're the most beautiful in here" he nuzzled her neck and they continued dancing in silence until the music finished. "Hey alan!" Some-one called at him "I'm coming, mingle I'll come and find you." He said to Clara and went to answer the person that was calling him. Clara used the opportunity to go to the rest room, as she was coming out of the toilet to wash her hands she was waylaid by gina "I see you followed Alan to this party like a love-sick puppy. You are never going to get anything from him but sex,he is not going to marry you. Why, because you are way below his class and his family won't accept you as his wife." She said with venom. "Do you think it is now you he is going to marry? You mean-faced good for nothing bimbo? Get a life and stop being daddy's little girl." Clara shot back. Gina laughed with malice "yea daddy's little girl with money. Do you think Alan would go for you when my parents are friends with his parents and I heard my dad discussing it that I'm going to get engaged to Alan to merge the two companies. Oh and stay away from Alan." Gina dropped the last blow and walked away feeling satisfied with herself. Clara stood dumb-founded with the things Gina said "oh no no no!! It can't be true! She is just trying to hurt me." She tried in re-assuring herself. She regained her composure and went out of the restroom. She tried and search for Alan with her eyes and saw him with his parents laughing and talking with Gina and her parents, She winced and broke down inside. She turned away and went out to get a cab to go home. Alan searched frantically for Clara amongst the people in the room but he couldn't find her, he tried calling her cell phone but she wasn't picking. He later found out from the staffs outside that she was seen entering a cab. He sighed in relief then went back inside to say goodbye to his parents. He drove to Clara's house and knocked on her door when she wasn't answering he used the key Clara gave him and entered the house. He went straight to her bedroom and saw her asleep with her eyes wet aand wondered why she was crying. He pulled off his clothes and got in beside her, his movements caused Clara to open her eyes "oh you're back,sorry for leaving the party so early I had a pounding headache." She sniffed back the remaining tears and sat up. "Why are you crying?" "Crying? Oh no it was the headache that made me to cry, it was too much for me but I've used aspirin" she lied. Alan sensed that she was lieing but decided not to press the issue. "Come here let me hold you until you sleep off." Alan offered. Later, it was Alan that slept off first with Clara crying more and wishing that Gina hasn't spoiled her mood with the doubts she planted in her mind.

*chapter 13*
Clara moped around for days with Alan gone for a business trip to Australia. She evaded his calls and texts which made Alan confused and angry, and decided to stop calling her till he gets back home. Clara tried not to think of Alan by burying herself in work and visiting Natalia and Tommy. "Why are you so down this couple of days? Are you missing Alan that much?" Natalia asked when Clara came to visit her at the shop. "Yea you could say that." Clara lied partially as she played with Tommy. "Don't worry he'll soon be back,the take over they're working on is a big one so they need everyone on it". Natalia tried to re-assure her.
It was a week later that Alan arrived from Australia. Clara was trying to watch some tv when she heard her door close. She got up and went to see who was there, and saw it was Alan, she didn't know whether to run to his arms or turn her back on him. "Hey you're back" she finally said. "Hey yourself" Alan said as he walked to the centre of the living room. He looked tired and worn out, she wished she could just cuddle him. "We need to talk Clara" He said with a frown on his face. This is it! He wants to break it up with me she thought with dread. "Wait! Let me talk first" Clara said to him. " Ok go on." "I know what you want to say..." "You do?" Alan asked with confusion in his voice. "Yea I do. You want to break up with me isn't it? Your family's company and Gina's family's company wants to merge, so you and gina is to get married isn't it?" Clara said with tears clogging her voice. "Wait what? What are you saying?" Alan asked confused with what she was saying. "You can't deny it can you? You only want me for the sex and fun of it isn't it? How could I have been so stupid to believe that a whole you would want me for who I am! The dowdy librarian dating a kevlar, now how did that happen?" She continued. "I love you Clara" Alan inserted. "I know I'm not beautiful and wealthy like Gina and...wait what did you just say?" Clara asked as she sniffed back her tears. "I love you. All what you just said are lies, it is Gina's parent's company that is looking for a merger which we don't want so they've taken the offer to another company, and you know I've told you how I feel about Gina why would I want to still marry her? Was that why you were crying and not talking to me? Even mother would disown me if I married Gina, and the family loves you already." Alan rubbed his forehead as he explained while Clara sat down hard on a couch. "I'm I dreaming? Y-y-you love me?" She asked shakily not wanting to spoil the moment "I'm serious Clara, I was worried and angry with you this past weeks, you make me feel things that I never thought I would feel." Alan confessed as he walked over to her "I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I can't do without you in my life, I want beautiful blue-eyed babies like their mother, please Clara don't kick me out of your life". He pleaded as he brought out a sapphire ring laced with diamonds, Clara's mouth hung open like a fish, she looked wide-eyed at the beautiful ring. "Marry me Clara,make an honest man out of me, let us make a family". "yes! I'll marry you, I love you too, I've loved you from the onset. I want to carry your babies" she said as she laughed with tears on her eyes and Alan put the ring on her finger which he kissed after then he now kissed her fully in the mouth. "You Just made me the happiest man on earth right now" he said as he hugged her deeply "and I'm the happiest, luckiest woman and librarian on earth" she laughed as he carried her in his arms.




All it remains now is the epilogue

EPILOGUE
The church was filled to the brim for the wedding of Alan and Clara, both the town people and the wealthy sat side by side with smiles and laughter all around. It was a beautiful september morning with the sun shining bright with goodness. "Are you ready to become mrs Kevlar?" Miss briggs asked as she straightened Clara's veil and sighed happily. "Yes I'm ready,funny enough I'm not nervous or having wedding jitters because I know this is for me,it was meant to be." Clara said with happiness. "You make a beautiful bride Clara" Natalia said as she came into the dressing room with champagne and glasses. They made a toast and drank to it. Then they all came out of the dressing room to wait for the wedding march to begin. As the organist started the song, Alan's father took Clara's arms into his and walked her down the aisle with Natalia walking at her back. Everybody turned to watch the bride walk down the aisle to her groom who stood straight and tall with grace, as Clara was walked to him, he smiled at his father then smiled at Clara with love shining in his eyes. "Let us begin" the bishop started. They exchanged vows then exchanged rings with the bishop saying to Alan, "you may kiss your bride." He pulled Clara into his arms and gave her a deep hot searing kiss which made the guest laugh and sigh. Mary kevalr dabbed her eyes with the flowery handkerchief,she looked at them and thought how they made a perfect fit. She thought back to the day she saw Clara in the store and liked her from the start then she patiently planned for Alan to meet her knowing they would fit perfectly together. She smiled secretely on how her plan went perfectly well, all they need to start doing now is to give her more grand-children she yearned for. She looked at Natalia as she laughed with Clara and rubbed her hands with glee as the drama she knew would unfold soon. Her plans for Natalia were already in action all she has to do now was find a wife for james.
The reception was held at the kevlar mansion's blooming garden. It was a beautiful event with the bride and groom the center of attraction. "Hey mrs Kevlar." Alan grinned at his beautiful bride who sat at his side, "hey mr Kevlar" she smiled back at him. "Let's dance, I want to hold you in my arms". Alan said and they went to the dancefloor. They danced first then people started to join the couple on the dance floor.
Natalia looked at the happy couple and wished them happiness, she looked at her cute son who was dancing with his grand-father and sighed, she love her son to the core and he gives her the happiness and closure she always wanted. As she turned to go into the house, her gaze collided with a man who just entered the garden. He looked dark and tall and walked like a man who gives orders, his tailor-made italian dark suit spoke wealth and his winged-tipped italian loafers couldn't be bought in any store but commisioned to be made. Natalia looked shocked and wide-eyed as she stared at the man who was walking towards her. "Hello Natalia" he said with his rich italian voice cascading through her skin.
