Just borrow money from anywhere build 10 new refinery's in nigeria. then refine the product, sell the product to yourself and other African countries, Nigeria will not be poor again. The fact is that we Nigerians are not really good in technology but buying and selling is easy to learn, let us use this God given product and make ourself rich

Truly, the only way to improve on the economy is by having the best of infrastructure and honestly $250billion is very doable over 10 years if it will be effectively and judiciously used.

This can be source true earning from taxation, oil export and borrowing, talking about borrowing. I see a lot of misinformed people complaining about debt, well the truth is every developed nation was built on debt and Nigeria a country. With a GDP of about $500billion is seriously under debted with debt of less than $40billion. Wise business people use other people's money to grow there business same ways wise countries borrow to built infractructure.. the USA has a total debt of $17trillion, China $5trillion, Japan $4trillion, even Egypt that have a lesser economy than Nigeria has a debt of over $400billion.

Sometimes debt serves as security to you because when you owe your creditors will not any harm on you as you can only pay back when you are alive, same way if a country is seriously in debt it creditors will ensure stability in the nation to ensure their debt is paid back, just imagine the fate of somalis creditors since 1991 that they haven't had a stable government

It is very ok to borrow to fund infrastructure but don't borrow for recurrent expenditures like paying salaries, when you borrow to pay salary it means you are employing more than your capacity

Borrowing is not a Bad thing.. But like Peter Obi said, If you borrow to Spend then you're heading for doom but if you borrow to invest then believe me You'll become richer than your creditor in no time..

For me its about sincerity.. If this government can be sincere and work with this money, then in 10 years we would have achieved a lot to sustain development..

Stupid sense. So you want to foolishly put us all in debt knowing that we will definitely have corrupt leaders that will misappropriation them and then put us at the mercy of the borrower despite the fact that Nigeria is not ONE. Our very existence is not sure so why continue to colonise the people together.

The only reasonable comment so far. Nairaland is a reflection of Nigeria, people talk without using their brains. People can't even criticize constructively, If it is coming from the Buhari led government, it cannot be good no matter what. It is high time we look beyond politics and start engaging one another intelligently.

God bless you my brother for your intelligent contribution. Nigeria with a GDP of about 500 billion US Dollars can actually carry a debt burden of like btw 100 and 150 billion Dollars. The only snag there is whether we would use the funds judiciously without a huge chunk or almost all of it ending up in private pockets. Yeah, that's the major ish. Let's hope Buhari will make use of this 30 billion dollars wisely. We're watching!

My brother most of our people don't know that critical infrastructure are done on credit and your capacity to borrow is determined by your economy size, as it is Nigeria can handle a debt of over $100billion, but people always have political undertones in everything, furthermore, I agree with your fear of the politicians that may embezzle the borrowed money, my suggestion will be to appoint a private sector project management consultant to supervise the implementation of funds on critical infrastructure. Am talking of something like Afri project consotium(APC) that manage the entire PTF project in the late nineties
