This is cool. We need to make all our ports viable. Mynd44, OAM4J let the people know that the FG is not aversed to opening up the east for business opportunities. 14 Likes 1 Share |

I hope Ayade drops his deep sea port project in Akpabuyo if this one's gonna work...We desperately need a functional port here to open up the state for business endeavors. 3 Likes |

They have been awarding contracts for the dredging since the mid nineties under IBB when the Free zTrade Zone was built. They are never genuinely interested but rather make money from the contracts as usual. Most of the ports in the SE are shallow and cannot accommodate very large vessels, and the terrain is quite tortuous making navigation more difficult to berth such vessels. This explains why the ports in Lagos- Tin can,RoRo,Apapa Quay,Container a Terminal,Lily pond will always be busier and account for more than 70% of port activities despite the fact that some goods destined for the SE are discharged in Lagos and conveyed by road to the SE. 7 Likes |
