It is a misnomer that every one wants to fall in love. It is a different feeling to be falling in love and sustaining a relationship. Relationships are hard work because they are complicated. And some people think why to do all this hard work. Is is really worth the effort? And why do relationships have to be so difficult? After all, we get everything easy these days. Would it not be easy if ‘love’ and relationships also became easy.

However, relationships are hard work but it is the tough part of relationships that makes them come alive. If a relationship was not difficult to sustain, it could become boring. And yet, being in a relationship takes so much out of you. Sometimes, you have to be in a relationship at the cost of your career or even yourself. Here are some reasons why relationships are hard work.

Reasons why relationships are hard work are:

1.They Are Time Consuming: You need lots of time to be in a relationship. You have to go for dates, movies, dinners and ‘make’ time for each other. For busy professionals who do not have time to sleep, that is a lot of time ‘wasted’ in frivolity.

2.Brain Work: Relationships involve a lot of thinking. You have to constantly think from your partner’s perspective which is very difficult and again time consuming. You have to think what might hurt your partner or make them happy which requires more brain work than rocket science.

3.The Gender Wars: If you really want to know why relationships are so difficult, then there is a very simple explanation. This is because we are usually in a relationship with the opposite sex. Men cannot understand women and vice versa.

4.They Affect Your Productivity: When you are in a relationship, you have to take time out from your work or studies to be with the person you love. That affects your productivity as a professional or student and takes you away from your goal in life.

5.Taxes Your Memory: Being in a relationship is like playing a tough memory game. You have to remember birthdays, anniversaries, dinner dates. If you hated dates in history, do not get into a relationship.

6.Conflict Is Inevitable: No matter how much ‘nice’ you become or how ‘hard’ you try, conflict is inevitable in every relationship. Having fights not only wastes your time but also drains you physically and emotionally. That is why relationships are hard work.

7.You have To Keep Innovating: Being in a relationship is like holding a key creative role in research and development. You have to research on what your partner likes and based on your ground work, you must come up with new ways to keep the relationship interesting.

8.There Is No Guarantee Of Success: There is no insurance to protect your assets and investments in a relationship. No matter how hard you work to make a relationship work out, you might always get ditched in the end.

No one wants to sacrifice...

As easy as communication is these days, people still find it hard to communicate.
