I know this is not the right section to post this in but I had to hide my identity hence creating another account to post this.

I have 50 million naira cash and would like suggestions on what kind of business that I can put this into. My major issue is that I am out of the country so I am thinking of a business that I can monitor remotely and still make reasonable profit. One thing that I know of is that I don't want the business in Lagos. I am from Ondo state and that is where my parents live. So it will be easier for them to help monitor in my absence as well. My ultimate goal is to make this company a brand name in Ondo state.

The plan is to build the company into a strong one within 5 years and then resign from my work abroad and come home to be in charge full time. I want to be able to hire people, give back to my community, be cash flow positive and still make a ROI in few years.

But the question is still "What business can I do?"

I would appreciate any suggestions.

**Moderator, I would appreciate it if you can move this to the right section, thanks**

Thanks for the suggestion. What farm animals do you think would sell faster and profitable?

This op is not serious. There is no business youbwould go into that you want it to be in a desired form or shape without being present. It is IMPOSSIBLE. I repeat again. Its impossible to build a brand from where you are without your physical presence. You can go into real estate or farming. Thats if you truly have the money. Scammer these days and their tactics. Christmas is fast here. grin

I didn't come here to beg for money. All I begged for is ideas and suggestions. I see no reason why you think I am not serious or a scammer. I mentioned in a post that my parents would help me monitor and that I would love to monitor remotely too and be sure the business is solid before moving back home and resigning from my job. Please if you don't have any meaningful suggestions, you should just keep quiet and let those who want to advise do.

And what do you mean by if I truly have the money? Whether I have it or not is not your business. What will I gain if I lie? I have only come here to seek knowledge.

You can advise without being rude. Your comment painted me as a scammer and liar. I wont take that.

I will pick the good parts of your comments. Thanks anyway.

Some nairalanders...trying so hard to turn a good thread into a war zone sad

OP there are various investments u can lay ur hands on here... live-stock farming(catfish, snail, chicken, goat etc), transportation business(buses), real estate (building of hostels for students), open a betting center/viewing center etc. I think these few are profitable if u find a good manager.

Hmmm, I have my reservation about schools. My uncle built an elementary school in 2007, the school was closed after 3 years because of poor enrollment and financial losses.

If you actually worked hard for the 50m, you should have known where to invest it.

It's obvious that you have no clue on what to do with the money. You even posted in family section instead of Business or investment.

JUST START PUSHING HARD DRUGS WITH THE MONEY

So if you need business ideas, you didn't work for the capital? Dear God, who have we offended in Nigeria? These people are just too mean.

Just FYI, I posted in the family section because I just registered on NL with this account and I wasn't allowed to post in the business or investment section.

Now take a chill pill, drink a glass of water and don't be an angry person. Life is not as hard as you've taken it.

OP, the best and MOST favourable business that you can venture in and meet ALL your above target and more is buildra HOTEL (note:i didn't say hostel).

However why most hotels fail or do not make enough money for the owner is poor and deceitful managerial skills by those who manage them.

You can do what most serious and strict investors now do, they build hotels, give it to a person to manage on an agreed target to meet every month. If he makes more than that, he is free to take the surplus. If otherwise, he will balance you from his money
.

HOTEL BUSINESS IS A WONDERFUL BUSINESS. IF WELL BUILT AND IN A GOOD LOCATION, YOU CAN MAKE BETWEEN N3m - N15m PROFIT EVERY SINGLE MONTH.

Just quote me if you need me to drop more facts or ideas. Your next bet is starting a plastic manufacturing company (though you will need above that N50m.)

Thanks for the beautiful suggestions. I thought about building hotels but it doesn't really move in Ondo state. That's the only set back but I will appreciate more facts.

Please tell me more about the plastic manufacturing company. How much to start it and other things I need to know.

My first advise is to protect that money from devaluation. If it's in naira please exchange it to foreign currency. Dollar, euro or pound.

Second: Don't start anything unless u are physically present to monitor things. Though tour parents are on ground they may not have wjat it takes to monitor and if you think they are, I guess age/physical strength may not be on their side. In addition, "Oju mewa ko joju eni."

Third: If you decide not to listen to two above; then please and please invest just 10% of that amount to test run it. At the end of the day u will be better inform if wether to continue or not.

Fourth: Since you are far from home, I will suggest u go into exportation of non perishable agro-products. Look for what can sell in your current location. Investigate and connect with your people at home.

Fifth: Incase u don't want to go into agro-products as suggested in 4 above; then u can go into sales of food items especially rice. Your risk is minimal and you can monitor things. Again just 10%, to be increased from the profit generated please don't be greedy.

Sixth: Incase u don't want to do any of the above, then buy secured (estate settings with correct documentation) land in Lagos. If u can get cheap one . Then build a beautiful small building on it to be sold and recoup with profit when u are ready to start your business.

My suggestion came from personal experience. I have lost a lot of money. So please tread carefully. I wish you well.
