Edwin Clark Reveals The Untold Story Of Alex Ibru’s 3 WILLS, Warns Maiden Ibru by AnnaKareninaFan: 3:29pm On Nov 19, 2016
Former Minister of Information, Chief Edwin Clark is a first cousin to the Ibru brothers. The Ibru family made up of 5 males and 2 females has the only surviving male as Mr. Goodie Ibru, who is the immediate elder brother of Mrs. Maiden Ibru’s late husband Mr. Alex Ibru. Maiden Ibru, who is the Chairman/President of The Guardian Newspapers, is at war with Goodie Ibru and this recently led to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) declaring him wanted. Mr. Goodie Ibru has since denied fleeing Nigeria but was in the United Kingdom undergoing medical treatment.

The latest twist to this ongoing war in the Ibru family is the revelation by Chief Edwin Clark in a personally-signed open letter he titled ‘The unity of the Ibru dynasty is the legacy late Olorogun Michael Ibru strived to leave, which every member of the family must uphold: Between sustaining this legacy/family unity and avarice, Mrs. Maiden Ibru, you have a choice!’.

According to Chief Edwin Clark, “The Ibru Family is a close-knit unit of 5 males and 2 females who did things co-operatively. For instance, the Guardian Newspaper is a family business; the land on which the Guardian Publishing Company is built, belonged to the Patriarch of the Family, the late Olorogun Michael Ibru; Mr. Goodie Ibru; and the late Alex Ibru. It was the wish of the patriarch, that what he laboured hard to build into a united first-class family in Nigeria will remain so. It was the great Legacy he wished to leave behind.”

“The three Wills of 1989,1992 and 2011 of Alex Ibru were read in October 2012. Naturally a later always revokes the precious ones. But the content of the 2011 Will has raised lots of questions. There is so much suspicion about the authenticity of this 3rd Will, on the part of the three daughters from the first marriage and the siblings of late Mr. Alex Ibru. The said Will substantially left the children of the first marriage bereft of their late father’s assets, compared to the previous Wills.

The questions, therefore are:

i. What went wrong?

ii. Did the three daughters from Alex Ibru’s first marriage, offend their father to the extent that he decided to almost leave them out from inheriting from his assets?

iii. Can it be TRULY said, with a good conscience, that the 8th September 2011 Will was written or authorized to be written, and signed by the late Alex Ibru, considering his state of health as at the time, which also happened to be about 2 months before he died on 20th November 2011?

“The bone of contention in the whole of this matter{this entire crisis has birthed about 13 court cases} is majorly the controversial 8th September 2011 Will. Questions emanating from the so-called Will are:

– The signature on the said Will is very irregular and has a thumbprint, unlike the earlier two of 1989 and 1992, making one to conjecture that it is either that the Will is fraudulent or the late Alex Ibru was not stable enough to write or authorize anyone to write a Will.

– The chair of Omamo Trust is willed to Maiden Ibru, and her son is willed the Vice Chairman and Treasurer

– Funds are to be taken from the Trust for “2” detached houses to be built and tastefully furnished next door, for Otoke and Ivie, Maiden Ibru’s two sons.

Also, in the controversial 8 September 2011 will, all siblings of the late Alex Ibru who were hitherto named as Trustees of the Omamo Trust, in the previous wills were removed. In their place, his brother-in-law, Maiden Ibru’s brother, Dr. Alex Thomopolous, was named as a Trustee.”

The 89-year-old Niger-Delta leader further said, “My aunty, their mother, Chief Mrs. Omotogor Osadiere Ibru, must be weeping in her grave, how a housewife is scattering the family she laboured to build. I want to reiterate here that the siblings of Alex Ibru will protect the children of their late brother by Maiden Ibru, if someone equally tries to cheat them out of their inheritance. Therefore whatever fight for protection they are putting up for the three daughters from the first marriage is not because they hate Maiden Ibru and her children. They are fighting for equity and justice.”

In closing, Chief Edwin Clark stated that, “On my part, I am putting this write-up to let the public know what damage, Mrs. Maiden Ibru is doing to the great Ibru Dynasty. My candid advice to her is that it is never too late to make amends. Family feud never does anyone any good! She should not destroy the Ibru Dynasty as a result of her bizarre activities in the Family. Her children have a blood relationship with the other Ibru children. I wish to, with the kind permission of the reading public, paraphrase a Biblical injunction thus: what shall it profit a man, to gain the whole property, and destroy his/her Family?”
