The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has destroyed another set of illegal oil barges in River States. Two of the latest barges filled with stolen oil were set ablaze by NAF helicopters on armed patrol around Okoromabie and South East of Port Harcourt refinery. The third barge, surrounded by canoes carrying drums, was sited at Onne. While individuals around the barge and canoes fled when fired at, the barge and drums did not explode, indicating the possibility of being empty.

Don't mind those hopeless militants. They steal crude for refining and claim it is "our oil." If they want crude for refining, let them apply for an oil block, bring in drilling equipment that costs thousands of dollars per day to operate, and lay their own pipelines from the wells into their refineries. That is how intelligent, honest and sensible people prospect for oil.

Don't burst pipelines that cost someone else thousands of USD to build, and then steal crude that cost another person thousands of dollars to drill, because you feel it is your 'oyel.' That is illegitimate & illegal.

The door gunners in that helicopter gunship must have undergone some serious marksmanship training, because they rarely seem to expend more than 3 or 4 rounds before the target erupts in flames. I would hate to be one of the folks running away from those barges, with all that live ordnance raining down with such deadly precision.
